Aston Martin Cygnet

the approval of production of such a car is by far the worst decision ever made. Even more stupid will be the person who actually pays for such.

The car itself isn't bad at all. Especially considering Smart cars and the other "tiny" cars that are making it to the market. Only issue I see with this is that it's a highly exclusive car company delivering Bargin bin size car. Just seems odd, but just maybe it will be a hit with Aston Martin owners.

Personally, I'd rather the big boy toys.

So they make the One-77, then they make this toy? It just doesn't make any sense.
Aston Martin's reputation has gone down the drain in my eyes. This is garbage.

Aston Martin Hopes Cygnet Can Push Sales Beyond 6,000 Cars Per Year

Love it or loathe it but Aston Martin’s Cygnet luxury minicar based on the Toyota iQ is here to stay. For whatever reasons Aston Martin deemed it necessary to build such a model, be it emissions regulations, demand from brand loyalists for an urban commuter, or a desperate grab for new customers, the new Cygnet is expected to go on sale before the year is out--in Europe at least.

Aston Martin is expecting the car to be thunderous success, with predictions that the car could boost the automaker’s sales by more than 30 percent on 2009’s levels. Last year Aston Martin sold about 4,000 cars, which was down on the record high of 5,800 cars in 2008. For 2010, Aston Martin is predicting sales of more than 6,000 units.

The information comes directly from Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez, who spoke recently with Germany’s Automobilwoche.

Bez also stated that he didn’t believe the Cygnet would dilute the Aston Martin brand and that many of its current customers are demanding a city car.

Aston Martin will attempt to protect its image somewhat, however. Not just anyone will be able to buy a Cygnet. In order to be eligible to buy one, customers will have to already own an Aston Martin.

So I saw the Cygnet today. My heart skipped a beat the instant I spotted the velvet coloured abomination in Harrod's window display. It doesn't look that terrible, but it's a terribly unnecessary product that scream "Thank-you-Aston-Martin-for-giving-me-something-to-spend-my-2010-end-of-year-bonus-on." Surprisingly I bumped into Cecs Fabregas on the 4th floor of the shopping center with a metallic Cygnet brochure in his left hand.
