Here we go. In a week we'll see if they manage to meet the reserve price.

And there it is. An entirely predictable outcome and yet another L for hyper EVs.

Well, yeah, but then who would buy a car from a company they have never heard of, and which can be inadvertently read as "Ass-spark"? I am not sure that if the car had been ICE, they would have seen a lot more demand.

So far it indeed doesn't look too good for Hypercar EVs, but it's also true that so far we've only seen cars from niche companies that are not very well known, or regarded. I think that we'll only get a definitive answer once one of the major players produces one.

Ferrari's EV is coming next year, but it seems it's gonna be some kind of SUV, or perhaps a sedan, so not a hypercar - and it's Ferrari anyway, whose customers will literally buy anything.

Mclaren - we will see, but the P1 replacement is still gonna be a hybrid.

Porsche - That's the only one that's actually planning an EV hypercar. It's also not gonna arrive before 2028 and who knows how the overall situation is gonna look like by then. The winds might change again. Either way, they will also have to produce enough for us to be able to tell the difference. I think that at 2-3M, if the car was ICE or hybrid, they would able to sell at least 300, probably even up to 500. If they are able to sell the same amount of cars with it being an EV hypercar, then that would be a sign that the demand is actually not completely nonexistent.

Yeah, selling supercars was always gonna be an uphill struggle for Asspark. Hopefully the founder and CEO is a mega rich dude who just ticked off a major bucket list item for him and can now close this entire operation, walking off with a super rare addition to his personal car collection.

I'm praying for Porsche to decide against putting Mission X in production. Or at least wait and see the (lack of) demand for the upcoming EV only Cayman/Boxter. I would hate for their halo car to miss the mark as badly as these boutique brand hyper EVs.
BTW, that design would make for such a cool conventional supercar. It just deserves a V10. Sadly, Porsche is so stubborn, this would never be allowed.

I think the question shouldn't be: will this hyper EV from an established brand sell. Because people might very well buy into the hype and make it an immediate success. But the real test is whether these cars will hold value several years into the ownership as battery technology continue to improve. They could just depreciate to hell and turn off their owners from ever wanting this type of car again, essentially nuking this whole segment for everyone.

Or I could just be wrong. Listening to this video, I learned that Porsche just couldn't give away 918 when it was new. People hated the idea of a supercar hybrid at first. The dealers couldn't get prospective buyers to come see the car, even when they flew them in on a helicopter. It looked like a big fail. But then somehow the demand recovered and it turned out to be a success. Now the car is held in high regard.

I'm very curious about these halo cars from Ferrari and McLaren. As for the Ferrari EV, I couldn't care less. 😁
