Any surprises before the end of the year?

Intailly the M3 CSL E92 was meant as a concept only. After the M3 CRT E92, there was also though of making a limited production M3 CSL E92. Maybe indeed something could change and we won't ever see any M3 CSL E92, not even as concept. It is a pity, as the last NA M car should be feasted. How I love the M3 CSL E46!

If the M3 CSL is a concept only like the E60 M5 CSL, they might as well not show it altogether, and just put it in the museum in a couple of years. I don't see the point of a non production concept with wild specs. Every one's mom can make that.

Exactly. Any manufacturer can make wild concepts, but when a manufacturer like BMW makes one and, again, don't follow through, its more like saying "look what we can't make".

Really?! I distinctly remember seeing it written that the 3er will debut at Geneva.
Geneva would be too late with the global market launch being in February already. Here's the excerpt of a press release from BMW USA:

"The all-new BMW 3 Series Sedan will debut at the North American International Auto Show in January and arrive in US showrooms in February 2012 as a 2012 model."

Best regards,
south

A friend of mine told me he saw the new 3er on the Essen car show, or was that a lie?
Most probably somewhere outside e.g. in the parking area. The F30 is all over Munich right now, I see at least one a day. Some partially covered in swirl foil, some completely undisguised with complete badging etc.

It's a weird direction chosen for the launch , it will now have its world premiere at the NAIAS in January as it is "The first International" autoshow of 2012. But because it is the only US Show BMW participate with any premieres globally, it will be US Market cars so just the Active Hybrid 3 , 328i and 335i.
But in a weird turn of events and because the car will be produced in India from 2012 , The F30 will also debut at the New Dehli Show which is a two days head start before Detroit.
The actual European public debut will occur in Geneva with the full engine line-up on show and the Premiere of the six cylinder diesels.
Plus other reflections of the 3er will be on show @ Geneva.

They brought the car to Tokyo last week although it was not publically displayed, It was there for the distributors and dealers but they introduced the three model lines with anime type visuals with characters to reflect them.
It was kind of cool, down with the cultural vibe, man...

Thanks! I was a bit confused about this as I'd heard the 3 Series was going to be at UK dealers from February, which doesn't make sense if the world premiere was going to be at Geneva in March. This explains it.

When the 6GC will debut ?

I was wrong about the 3 Series, but the last I heard it was going to be at Beijing in April.

Hmm... do I believe Scott? .. do I believe south? ... do I believe Betty ?

Don't believe me. I was wrong.

My next curiosity is now that the 3 Series is going to make it's world premiere in Delhi, and then shortly afterwards, Detroit; What is going to be BMW's star of the Geneva motor show 2012 now?

Good Question. X6 LCI or Gran Coupe or M3 concept(wishful thinking;))?

The 1er 3dr is going to be there, but that doesn't count in my eyes, as it's just an already exisiting car with two less doors. And neither does any kind of LCI. I wouldn't be surprised if the concept 3er GT makes an appearance.

How about the M 50d models? Diesel seems fairly Euro-centric therefore Geneva makes sense, but there must be something much more Geneva-worthy from BMW.

Agreed. Little tid bit: The 5er GT Concept was shown at Geneva '09.
