A4/S4/RS4 Any Audi S4 owners here?

My first post here, so hello there.


I have a 2010 Audi S4 for about 8 months now. Been great for the first six months, but for the last two months, the sports diff is been acting up. It makes a grinding noise and some times a clank. I took it to the service center couple of times and they said nothing to worry and that the first service (at 15k miles) will fix it. I know couple of other cars that also started have the same issue and it started after a 6 months of use, so I am very concerned. So anyone else here with a S4 that has the sports diff option? How long have you had your car? Have you had any issues with the sports diff? If it did, did the first service fix it?

I have dealt with several Audi dealers and they suck! I think I could have brought in my A4 with a hole in the side of the engine block and they would have said there was nothing wrong.

I worked with a guy who had rear diff noise in his new Mustang. He took it to the dealer and they said there was nothing wrong. Then it locked up on him when he was doing 70mph on the freeway.

Keep trying to get them to look at it.

Welcome to GCF. I have an S4 with the sport diff. Had it since April 09 and have not had any problems. But a sample size of 1 or 2 isn't going to help you much, you are better off asking that question on a dedicated Audi site like Audiworld.

Like ACE said above, there is too few members here with a sportsdiff to give you a true reflection of whether the diff can be problematic, my dealership hasn't had any with a problem but that's not to say some customers like yourself haven't experienced odd noises.

If you are unhappy with the reaction to your concerns by the dealer then I suggest sending an e-mail off to the customer service department of AoA. Hopefully they will not only reply back but inform your local dealer to check it out.
