AMS, headquarters in Stuttgart...:D

1st Place: Mercedes ML320 CDI (516/650)
The high degree of comfort places the M-Class in first place. Not as sporty as the X5, but it doesn't pretend to be either. A comfortable and luxurious vehicle for travelling.
224-hp, 510 Nm, 0-100 km/h = 9.0 seconds, 2360 kg

2nd Place: BMW X5 3.0d (496/650)
The X5 mainly focuses on driving dynamics - and ignores comfort. The 6-cylinder engine is wonderful, a bit loud though.
235-hp, 520 Nm, 0-100 km/h = 8.3 seconds, 2211 kg

Autozeitung tested same cars but also the Q7.

X5 won and Q7 on second place and the ML on last place. Me like Autozeitung better :D

Autozeitung is sports-biased obviously.

AMS has a comfort-fetish. :eusa_danc

well, not always, in fact they seem to be more unbiased than AMS or Autobild. The winners arent always the same. BMW win as much as MB. This is just an example, last time they tested 550i vs E500, the E500 won the comparison.

Every single SUV is more than comfortable! That's not the case if you put some 23" rims on it though...;)

So, AMS, can praise ML's comfort as much as they want, it's the whole package that counts. X5! Newer, better handling, better engine, waaaay better interior...

Yes, an X5 for me!

:t-cheers:

Thanks to you, I now bookmarked the Autozeitung website. :D

The whole package counts, and the ML also offers a distinct appealing package. I've driven the ML350 and ML320 CDI and it's a pretty sporty SUV for Mercedes' standards. It handles nicely and never makes you feel like you'll loose control. It's biased towards comfort, but it can also be driven in a sporty fashion. It's not a sports SUV like the X5 however, which seems to solely focus on sport. Some people like that, other's don't. :t-cheers:

Also, AMS said both interiors were on par with each other. :D

Swedish version of AMS is like the german AMS. But the difference is that swedish ams favorite BMW over MB in most cases and not like the german AMS which favor MB in most cases.

I found this intresting :D

How do they like Audi? When I think Sweden, I think of AWD for cars. :D

in the latest issue they tested A3 2.0, 120i vs C30 T5.
they gave the audi and bmw 4 stars and the C30 4 + a half star :D

in another recent comparison they tested S8 vs Quattroport vs S500 and gave the audi 4 + a half star and the S500 5 stars rating

so its difficult to say how the like Audi :t-hands:

That's the beauty of car magazines. They each have their favorites. AMS in Germany might be comfort / MB biased, but they also give credit where credit is due overall. :t-cheers:

Yup, like I've said before, Autozeitung is my favorite German car magazine. :usa7uh:
