GT (C192) AMG GT Track Sport (New Black Series)

The Mercedes-AMG GT (C192) is the second generation 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. Production: 2023- Model years: 2024-
They definitely need to make lesser versions of this. They have to be nicely priced/accessible, lightweight & performative.

Think Artura,GR GT, Vantage $150,000-$220,000 type of car. They should be aiming for that, Someone needs to make a petition to make them consider this or tell their connections to suggest that it could quite be a phenomenal car!
They don't need to do anything. The C192 GT is already $150-200,000. The X192 is clearly a step above that. Even if there are lesser models, don't expect anything less than $180,000.
I can't think of any carbon tub supercars at $150,000, so there's no way on Earth that this one will be.

It definitely makes sense as a true successor to the SLR and the SLS.
I can buy the lineage argument. But to say it's a true successor of those cars is one step too far, I think.

I don't see a 2027 version of these people driving this winged Nordschleife warrior.

Even at $200,000-$250,000 the lesser versions would still be a success. Mercedes needs to fill the gap between the C192 & X192 with those type of models, actual sports cars.

I mean the GT63 Pro has 612hp but it still couldn’t beat the 577hp GTR from years ago. So we do need a GTC & GTR from the X192. Benefits of this would come in lesser weight, more raw driving experience & it’ll take the bends better.

I mean tell me everybody…who of you doesn’t want a 1650kg carbon tub, 600hp V8 , transaxle sports car for $200,000 or less?🤷‍♂️

I don't, but that's mainly because I can't afford one.
Happy to observe from the sidelines.

Another thing is that we need to be honest about the C192.

2+2 Compact AMG Coupe, V8 wet sump,+\-4000lbs weight….Doesn’t that remind you of something? :

So they need to go a level beyond & also focus on X192 lesser versions, they’d be so coool.

With what we know so far about the X192, I don't believe there's a snowball's chance in hell it will have a model that is anywhere near the $200k price point. I think the model starts at a Ferrari SF-90 XX Stradale price, hovering close to $1 million. If they deign to do a "Touring" version (a'la Porsche GT3), I still don't see how that could be cheaper. Or, they go the, again, the SF-90 route and offer a regular model for, say, $750k with less power and fewer track-specific equipment.

I see this model as closer to those crazy CLK DTM specials than a mass production-intent model.

People don't know that the X192 is a base car produced for racing. It's a mandatory production model. So don't expect to see different variations of it.

They absolutely can make one if they really want to and the demand is there. The chassis would work just fine without a massive wing and 900hp V8. It'd work well with a 450hp inline 6 just as well. It would just be VERY expensive.

They could bring the costs down by doing things like less power, less aero, less extreme suspension set-up, and tyres and brakes etc. But it needs to be profitable. So a hypothetical GTS with the M256 and 449hp/600Nm, would probably end up starting at $180k at a minimum. If it is genuinely a sub 1500kg chassis, then even with that little power and torque, it'd be an absolute missile and absolutely a match for your 911 GTSes.

Question is, can it be profitable? Or at the very least help cover the cost of developing it? Well Idk.
So yeah, they can. But will they?

If it's a genuine homologation special (which I would emphasize again, might not be a good thing), then they can charge more for it the less they make. I think the last genuine homologation car they made was the CLK-GTR, the price of which was notably quite high.

  • Black Series serves as a homologation model for the next generation of GT3

If what you're saying were true, they'd have to scrap the C192.

Or, they rebrand it as the SLC, the closed-roof version of the SL. Which it effectively is.

Then, the GT goes back to the transaxle, RWD only, impractical model it was but at an entirely new price bracket and positioning within the portfolio: the SLR level, with the carbon fiber chassis etc. But I doubt they want to do it. There is so many models and at that upper end there just isn't enough demand for a Mercedes.
