Even with that, it'll probably be cheaper than a Temerario or Revuelto. They're gonna ask for double the €€€ of the old Black Series for this, aren't they?
Is it not? I thought it was doing quite well?
Certainly better than the SL.
Based on what consumers wanted though. The number of young people who can afford aspirational vehicles like the GT is dwindling on a macro scale. The market wanted softer and more practical and that's what we ended up getting.
Whether this is a long term success remains to be seen. But, there's nothing really wrong with the formula. It's just different.
None of us will know. You'd need to speak with your AMG rep and express an interest in a less insane road going versions of the BS/TS.
Who knows they might be starting top down this time around rather than bottom up. Additional models lower down the line might help offset development costs/generate extra profit. But there needs to be a demand for it. The prior gen GT was a great product, but it didn't do numbers anywhere close to the 911.
They probably are leveraging the VW fleet. Would be insane not to.
Completely new.Is this an AMG GT with a lot of add-ons? Or is it a completely new body or one that's been heavily modified like the SL Black Series from a few years ago?
Another one of my fabricated dreams has come true.Is this an AMG GT with a lot of add-ons? Or is it a completely new body or one that's been heavily modified like the SL Black Series from a few years ago?
Then you definitely need to dedicate more time to sleepAnother one of my fabricated dreams has come true.![]()
Rumors suggest that the new GT Black Series will use carbon fiber in its body shell and replace the NAG3 (9G-Tronic) transmission. This would bring back the transaxle layout of the SLS AMG and the C190 generation AMG GT.
This is what is already known about the new AMG GT Black Series (X192):
- V8 BiTurbo with flat-plan crankshaft and dry sump lubrication
- Sidepipes (a comeback since the McLaren-Mercedes SLR) in front of the rear wheels
- This makes the rear diffuser wider and allows for better airflow.
- Vehicle that can be lowered for the racetrack to achieve a lower center of gravity
- Michelin Cup2 R tires: 325/35 ZR20 front and 355/30 ZR21 rear.
- Active aerodynamics with DRS (foldable) rear wing for higher top speed on the straights.
- flow-through fender
- Active wheel arch ventilation at the top, via actively controlled flaps as in the AMG One, to reduce back pressure in the wheel arch and to optimize downforce.

We definitely need to ask AMG officials to make lesser track versions of the AMG GT Black Series. Versions like a GTS or GTR version costing around $150k & $200k would fill that gap nicely. The c192 isnt selling too well though right?
Mercedes really confuses me. They released the c190, gained a whole new younger demographic of buyers, then they did the SL chassis replacement which does not cater to their previous GTR owners, and its firmly aimed at the older gentleman.
Us guys in our late 20’s, 30’s and 40’s have nowehere to go within the mercedes brand.
We do not want the SL based GT.
Then they release this, which the average affluent man cannot buy.
So do we abandon the brand and go buy the 296/750s/GT3RS instead?
If porsche can deal with the emissions, surely mercedes can, or is Porsche trading on VW’s emission allowance?
No minimum numbers under current gt3 regs.
The 296 is you probably the “rarest” not counting the temerario
i think it’s gonna make 800hp Minimum, Bet?![]()
I wonder if you are listening to a different video than I am. The only sound I hear is when the tires hit the ribbed track sides. This is nice. You can hear the difference between the track sport and the previous gen GT Black Series. Sounds very very different. A lot deeper and meaner sounding.
