Went to this place again. They always have cool exhibitions that get updated regularly. The museum focuses only on German cars and the development of the car within Germany from the beginning to the mid 1990s. If you're ever in this area of Germany, check out this place. ;)

This is how much Germany contributed to the development of the automobile. The busts represent the big German inventors like Karl Benz, Gottlieb Daimler, Felix Wankel, Wilhelm Maybach, Nikolaus Otto, Rudolf Diesel, August Horch and Robert Bosch (not listed in order as they appear in the pic). Who's your daddy now!? :t-rot:

A replica of the Karl Benz's "Patent Motorwagen" from 1886.

Gottlieb Daimler's "Motorwagen" also from 1886.

A wacky replica of Gottlieb Daimler and his 1885 "Reitwagen".

All the parts that go into an early 1980s Volkswagen Golf...

Before we go further, a basic German lesson is necessary. Also, many of the car brands you will see here don't exist anymore. Adler for example made typewriters after World War II.

Zylinder = Cylinders
Hubraum = Displacement
Leistung = Output
Höchstgeschwindigkeit = Maximum Speed

Yup, for real! *cool icon* (<-- doesn't work)
A friend of mine just finished restoring one (a month ago). He has it in a garage near my house and some time ago, i went to see it! that car is totally awesome. He turned the engine on and that V8 sounds great -for a 1939 car.

Well, now he has many responsibilities with his work and he doesn't have much free time to take it for a test drive, so probably at the christmas vacations we will meet each other and drive that car!

He lives 5 minutes away from me and he is a great guy! He is now working on a 1942 Opel Olympia and has finished a 1969 Citroen (don't remember the name).

edit; I would have taken some pics the first time i saw it, but i didn't have a camera with me, even that damn 9300 has one, and the light is not suitable for photographing the car.
BTW, it is black and cherry red with black leather interior and REAL wood!

Where is the 328 ?!
Just THE most important (not as far as sales go) pre WW II missing.

Check the other threads, it should be there. ;)

oh, Christian, where is that museum?

The address should be here: www.efa-automuseum.de

For some reason, the website doesn't work for me on the school's computer so you'll have to access it yourself and look for the address. Remind me sometime if you can't find it! If I recall correctly, it should be on the front page! :usa7uh:

Looks pretty cool. I'll have to snap some shots at the Petersen Automotive museum over here and post them sometime.
