always V8

Hang on to your gem till the end of your life or it's life which ever comes first.

Honestly though, if I want a go-fast coupe, I think the M4 would be my only choice, because I'm so use to the BMW family. It probably just won't have the overall experience of my e92.

So do care as much as you, but manufacturers not. Sure they won't tell you "we want you to change cars like you change shoes" but that is what they and many people who can afford, and are not necessarily wealthy do. Why didn't the F80 get full-LED? The technology is there, the costs are not a reason. That is the product-life-cycle. It did not exist before, it is new that cars now get a facelift after 3,5 years. That is manipulating customers into buyng the latest version.

So, you see the lack and then the offer of LEDs as a reason to change your car. Ok. Don't expect me to agree, though!

My reasons to change a car would be if it was involved in a chassis affecting crash, if I considered it unreliable (that's serious issues that come completely unexpected. Issues that result in the owner being afraid to start a two weeks trip with the said car) after a period of ownership or if I can't afford to keep it.

At least for me, the car is above all a tool and an expensive investment (given that I prefer to pay in cash for the car and sleep nice at nights, as opposed to the stress of monthly installments - I am a freelancer, so I don't have a steady monthly salary), so it has to pay off and work as its expected.

I can understand people that are motivated to change cars based on their fascination of bluetooth connection or a bigger screen, but I don't agree.

I'm not the one motivated to change cars just to get the latest, and even if I were, I can't afford that. And I agree a car is an investment, and things like the programed updates manufactures do bother me, because I never pull the trigger. It does bother me to buy a F30/F80 now without the features I wish, and get LED upgrade for the price of a new car plus depreciation of the old. Before face-lifts were really very slight, but now they is alot more difference between them. The new iDrive that came once the F01 was released made quite many upgrade to the newer models that had the finally good navi.

PS: Probably back to topic of V8. We are now heading to the product-life cycle discussion, which is also interesting for me.
