Many thanks!! Looks fantastic - love the aggressive elegant front!!

Again, not the M but the B. Looks like a head-to-head race between Garching and Buchloe...

Looks fantastic.

Timing wise, assume the B5 will preceed the M5 introduction?

USA availability?

Does anyone agree when I say that the B5 will compete with the E63, and the M5 with the Panny Turbo???

Sunny: I think the whole front bumper is simply covered in black tape :t-hands:

The M5 is not on the same segment than the Panny, so hardly the M5 will compete against it, and the E63, or the E55 by the time the M5 comes out will have the same power than the M5 more or less, no comparission with those horrible Alpina all of you seem to love.

Anyone have a sales comparison of the M5 vs Alpina B5?

The Alpina models always generate hype on forums but I doubt many people actually consider it as an alternative to the M5? Would like to see how many Alpina actually sells.

I don't have any number, but in Germany Alpinas are not that rare a sight. However, I dunno if those are mere bodykits/interior upgrades, or full mods.

In the rest of Europe, seeing an Alpina is not common at all...

The M5 bumper indeed is matte. Nice! May be unpainted. Or will a matte black paint be available for the next M5?

In 2008, BMW sold 2,465 M5s worldwide and Alpina sold some 1,500 cars in collectively (D3, B3, B5, B6, B7). I don't know of figures for the B5 specifically, but I doubt the B5 is the best selling Alpina model. For example, Alpina sold 11 (!) B5S in the UK in 2008.

Best regards,

ALPINA is a very low volume automaker. They produce single digit units B5 a day and 5 B7/day. And that's for the worldwide market.

And no, no B5 in the US

Very nice, thanks!

This will be a great car, the rendering looks beautiful. Just one thing.....please no green. I hate dark green Bimmers.
Also, maybe better to edit out the "(there's no thread yet)" part in the OP :)

Hehe, and again tastes are different. Alpina Green II is the most beautiful colour you can get on a BMW - next to Havana!

LOL, so there was a thread after all. Haha, I even posted in it. And I have to admit, I do remember seeing spy shots of the new Alpina ;)

Well, moved the other posts out of the M5 thread over here… :usa7uh:
