All the exciting news here please! (No SUV, SAV, PAC or whatever...)

Given the current direction of BMW:s car manufacturing I think this could serve as a place for gathering the scarse information ther is about cars that are intersting to people who find joy in driving!:t-drive:

As a consequese, news and information about BMW:s heavy duty department (SUV, SAV, PAC, X-cars) should be kept clear of this thread. :D

So, fire away!

I think BMW's strategy switching the next generation M3 and M5/M6 from the current naturally aspirated V8 and V10 engines to forced induction (turbocharged) in-line six and V8 is very sensible and makes a lot of economical sense even if many BMW M fans are up in arms about this.

BMW can simply turbocharge its in-line six and V8 engines and not having to produce two bespoke engines. Turbo-charging an existing engine with no internal modification does not require TUV certification and saves a lot of money. Not to mention possibly better mpg and exhaust emissions.

It's not an elegant or pure solution, but desperate times calls for desperate measures...........................

Well all we hear about is those other products and what not so I don't know what else to talk about here. The 760Li maybe or when the 335 models will get the hotter 326hp version of the 3L Turbo I6?

I knew this was going to be a thread with precious few posts but there must be something! Right?

Currently no news available. :D

Yopu could tell BMW fans how the new F10 will laught at W212 E-Class or something like that :D.

Bimmer fans ears need to hear something about ambitious proyects coming from the brand.

Halarious thread, good initiative though I fear that there's hardly going to be any news here except for engine of the year awards as BMW has decided to focus on manufacturing trucks and people carriers with compromised cabin room in the back.

I think we wonñt see M version of both 7er and PAS, so we will have Z4 sDrive 35i next year, and M5 on 2010 or 2011.

Good news for this thread the R8 V10 is out;):D

Man BMW should have a proper sports car now:eusa_doh:

Haha Dunkel, you already know this thread will be as busy as this town. ;):D

I'm amused how many are annoyed by constant BMW model line expansion yet almost all want to hear news on new models. And many of you expecting an M model or super car will be launched every month. :eusa_doh:

Mind in the last 12 months M3 sedan & M3 cabrio were launched. Not enough?

And M family (when Z4 was still produced) had 9 members: M3 sedan, M3 coupe, M3 cabrio, M5 sedan, M5 Touring, M6 Coupe, M6 Cabrio, Z4 M Roadster, Z4 M Coupe.

Not enough for you?

Missing M models: complete 1er family, 3er Touring, 7er, complete X-family ... but that will change soon.

Also mind cars like M1, M3 CSL are very rare ... even for BMW. Coming in every 10 years.

I've told you zillion times already: BMW is not a sports cars brand like eg. Porsche, or Aston Martin etc. It never was. BMW has always been about sporty regular cars (mainly sedans & sedanish coupes). And that made BMW brand famous: sporty regulars. Not some special or exotic sports cars / supercars.

Go and ask all BMW owners - how many of them heard of M3 CSL, and how many based their buying decision on that fact.

Guys, you have no idea of the brand power / image. How it is established, how it is managed, how it is nursed ... etc.

Many of you are being hysterical, and jealous + frustrated since other brands are coming out with various sports cars / exotics, while BMW aren't.

Where's your confidence & self-esteem? BMW still is the sportiest high-volume premium brand. While eg. AM, Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari etc has ever been sportier than BMW.

Also: LF-A or R8 doesn't make IS / A4 or A4 / A6 sportier then 3er / 5er.

Keeping the core line sportier then the closest rivals is essential for BMW brand image. Not supercars & exotics. They can be just a cherry on the top of a cake. But the cake still have to be there, and has to be damn good. ;)

I wrote wrong in my previous post. What I really meant to say is the Z4 is the last intresting car coming from BMW this year and the wait will be long before we see something intresting again.

Also, I have never ever thought BMW to be Porsche but I know them as building sporty and fun cars. A SUV, PAS, V models will never be a sporty car. It doesn't matter how many horsepower they put in their large and over heavy models because sport and fun are more than just a powerful engine.
I rather see BMW focusing on sportier versions of Z4, 1-series, 3-series than X6M, M7 and V3M.
