Hot! All kind of sales Audi / BMW / Mercedes

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
All 3 have same aces in the sleeve for the Q4 2015:

- MB with facelifted GLE (ex ML), new GLE Coupe, new GLC (ex GLK) and new C-coupe.

- Audi with new Q7 and new A4.

- BMW with new X1, facelifted 3er, new 7er, and even new 2er Gran Tourer.

Beside the numerous new Mk models in the next years some brand new niche models are coming from all 3: GLC Coupe, X2, Q8, Q6, S-cabrio, C-cabrio, X7. And even some quite mass-volume cars from BMW & Audi: Q1 & 1er Sedan. But none from MB?

The problem with BMW & MB is they don't compete with Audi in sub-compact segments (A1 3dr, A1 5dr, upcoming Q1). BMW Group does - but with MINI brand. While MB tries to stay ahead in sub-sub-compact segments with smart vehicles, where Audi and BMW Group are not present at all.

2016 & years beyond will be extremely tight!!! I guess we will see different #1 brand in different years ... either BMW, Audi, or MB.

Audi is just slow. Slow as hell actually. The first generation Q7 has been on the market entirely too long. Ditto for the A/S/RS5, though it is still pretty...its outdated. Mercedes' problem now is that their quality is staring to suffer because of this breakneck production pace.

M

Slow maybe, but the new A4 is going to outsell the 3er and C class in Europe most likely.

The A5 and 4series range compete with the C range not the E. This will be even more apparent when the next E coupe and cabriolet are announced.

Maybe next gen. Right now the E coupe is a simple C class and competes with the 4er/A5

^ I wish there was a dumbass rating!

We ALL know the current E-coupe is based on the C-platform. My statement was obviously meant in terms of intended market positioning.

Why is Audi lagging behind so much despite a 7 seater SUV and other smaller SUVs?

Audi has never sold well until recently in the U.S. Poor quality, reliability, shitty dealers, and lack of good product have all been factors in the past. Now they've pretty much fixed all that and they're doing much better. They still don't have as extensive a lineup as BMW and MB does. Audi's main problem has been reliability/quality/image, it held them back for years and years.

•Sales records in the two biggest markets China (+53.2%) and the USA (+6.2%)

•Premium market leader in the USA, Germany, Japan, Italy, Portugal, Canada, Australia and Taiwan

Stuttgart –Mercedes-Benz finishes the third quarter of this year with new sales records. In September, 188,444 vehicles with the three-pointed star were handed over to customers worldwide (+15.8%), more than ever before in one month. A total of 477,999 vehicles sold from July to September brought Mercedes-Benz the strongest quarter in the company’s history so far (+16.1%). Since the beginning of the year, 1,376,424 vehicles were sold, surpassing the prior-year figure by 15.2%.

“More than 50,000 SUVs sold in September and growth of over 36% are evidence of the popularity of our products in this segment. The GLC and the GLE both started with record unit sales after their market launch in September,” stated Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales.

In Europe, 593,716 vehicles with the three-pointed star were sold in the first nine months – more than ever before (+11.1%). About one third of them went to customers in Germany (201,203 units, +5.2%). In September, Mercedes-Benz continued to be the market leader amongst the premium manufacturers in the home market. In Great Britain, Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland, record unit sales were posted last month with double-digit growth in each of those countries. Mercedes-Benz gained the market leadership amongst the premium manufacturers in Italy and Portugal.

In the NAFTA region, sales records were set in all three countries in September and in the period of the first nine months of the year. A total of 33,506 vehicles were delivered to customers in the region last month (+6.8%); since the beginning of the year, sales rose to 286,961 units (+8.6%). Sales in the USA increased in September by 6.2% to 29,020 units. In the USA and in Canada, Mercedes-Benz is the market leader amongst the premium manufacturers.

Unit sales in the Asia-Pacific region grew at a double-digit rate in September (+32.7%) and Mercedes-Benz achieved a record of 62,723 vehicles sold. Sales in China grew by 53.2% to 38,663 units in September, the highest total so far for vehicles sold in China in one month; since the beginning of the year, 266,287 vehicles were delivered to customers (+30.9%). In Japan, 49,519 vehicles were sold in the first nine months (+13.3%). Mercedes-Benz continued to be the premium brand with the highest number of new-car registrations amongst the importers in this market, as well as in Taiwan and Australia.

Ongoing strong demand for its compact cars helped Mercedes-Benz to achieve record sales of 61,874 units in this segment in September (+25.3%). In the first three quarters of the year, a total of 426,022 cars of the A- or B-Class, the GLA, CLA or CLA Shooting Brake were delivered to customers (+27.1%). The new generation of the A-Class celebrated its market launch last month.

The C-Class Saloon and Estate also continue to enjoy strong demand: The 300,000 mark was passed in the first nine months of this year, thus setting a new record (332,329 units). Unit sales were 59.9% higher than in the prior-year period. Also in September, a new record was achieved of 46,265 vehicles sold (+38.7%).

The SUVs of Mercedes-Benz posted record unit sales in September of 53,781 vehicles sold (+36.8%). Demand was at an unbroken high level above all for the GLA, which is also produced locally in China, its biggest sales market. In addition to the GLA, the GLC, GLE and the GLE Coupé were very popular last month and posted record unit sales.

In September, more than 10,000 customers worldwide took delivery of their new smart fortwo or smart forfour. Demand was thus 51.4% higher than in the prior-year month. Unit sales more than doubled in the sales region of Europe, with major contributions from Germany, Italy and Great Britain. Further sales impetus will be created by the market launch of the smart fortwo in China in August and in the USA in September.

Mercedes in on fire! How in the world is Mercedes posting 50+% sales gains in China when BMW and Audi have been slipping? Either they were doing really, really, really bad last year or they're just giving them away now???

Here's your answer.

September 2014 sales in Chinese market:

MB: 25,244 (Mainland China + Hong Kong + Macau)
*BMW (incl. MINI): 37,111 (Mainland China only; w/o Macao & Hong Kong)
Audi: 51,614 (Mainland China + Hong Kong + Macau)

MB is catching up finally after the resolved dealer network debacle in China. They have been usually in line with BMW sales but lagging behind Audi. So, now the situation is back to normal.

*BMW sales include MINI sales but exclude Hong Kong & Macau sales. Taking this into consideration BMW brand sales incl. Hong Kong & Macau are almost same as BMW + MINI sales figures in Mainland China only. So, those BMW + MB + Audi sales numbers are quite comparable after all.

With Mercedes on 1376424 cars sold in first nine months of this year how are BMW and Audi doing at this point? It must be damn close, I reckon they are ahead of Audi and maybe a fraction behind BMW. Amazing about C-class with 332000 cars sold in first 9 months means it will hit close to 450000 cars by year end!

Sept 2015

MB - 188,444
Audi - 170,900

YTD

MB - 1,376,424
Audi - 1,347,950

MB will likely stay on top of Audi this year to be 2nd for 2015. It is going to take a lot more to catch BMW.

For 2016, Mercedes will launch a volume seller, the new E class, which is certainly going to sell well especially in China.

MB has leapfrogged Audi in the last few months and the negative impact of the Dieselgate scandal may make things that little bit more difficult for Audi. That said it looks like the Q7 is a sales winner, and the A4 is getting rave reviews.

I believe in August MB actually outsold BMW as well, so the September figures should be very interesting.

Dieselgate scandal also broke out early this month. Hence the effect has not been felt by Audi.

We'll see :D

Isn't BMW usually strong in the last part of the year?

Zetsche's vision was to regain No#1 spot by 2020. So if they do then it will be 4 years ahead of the schedule.

Once the vastly improved GLC drops worldwide Audi can forget it. Then comes the E-Class. BMW will counter with a new 5-Series so I expect both MB and BMW to pull away from Audi despite a new A4 and Q7. The diesel mess is going to hold them back in certain markets.
