Alfa Romeo's Brera is the "Most Beautiful Car in the World".

The Alfa Brera picked up the prestigious "Most Beautiful Car in the World" award during a glittering ceremony at the 21st annual International Automobile Festival held in the Grand Palais in Paris, a site with legendary significance in France’s cultural heritage and also in the history of the automobile.

The Alfa Brera fended off competition from the other three contenders on the final shortlist: the Peugeot 407 Coupé, Chrysler 300 C Touring and Lexus IS 250, to pick up the prestigious award for aesthetic beauty, to add to the long list of major design awards the Brera has won since being first presented as a concept in 2002. These numerous important international award include: the ‘Best of Show’, awarded by the magazine Autoweek at the Geneva Motor Show, ‘Best of Show’ in the Prototype category at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elégance, two prizes for its category at the Bibendum Challenge 2002, one as ‘one of the most elegant in the world’; and also the title of ‘the most fascinating car’ during the Super Car Rally 2002, which runs from Paris to Monte Carlo.

The "Most Beautiful Car in the World" award was handed out during a glamorous ceremony at the Grand Palais that brought together leading figures from the arenas of big business, sport and entertainment, and included former French four times Formula One World Champion Alain Prost, and current Renault Grand Prix team boss Flavio Briatore. Other awards went to the Citroen C6 for best interior, the Bugatti EB 16.4 for 'Supercar of the Year', while the Mazda Sendu won 'Concept Car of the Year'. Master Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, who created the Alfa Brera, received the Grand Prize for Art during the ceremonies...

The Alfa Romeo Brera looks monumentally goofy!

The Brera looks like a smashed and shrunken Alfa 147.

I'm not a huge fan of Alfas, I think they are stylish and nice to drive, although I would never buy one, because they are unbelievably unreliable.

I never imagined that Peugeot 407 , 300C and IS would be considered beautiful from anyone.

As for Brera it's not ugly but it's not beautiful either.

Well, I think the front of the Brera is absolutely fabulous, but I'm not so sure of the rear. I think I'd rather have a 159 which shares the same front (among other things).

I never imagined that Peugeot 407 , 300C and IS would be considered beautiful from anyone.

The 407 has the best front of any non-prestige car in its class (IMO of course). It's a shame the rear of the coupé version doesn't seem to match the front. The 300C is not what I'd call beautiful but it has its own appeal, especially the sedan. I can't say I like the IS, though.

Yannis, yes, Brera is not beautiful, but it's not ugly. But i don't think that IS or 300C are nice cars. And the 407 is the best looking of the "non prestige" cars.

Good looking car, but not the most beautiful in the world. That honor goes to the Aston-Martin DB9. Plus the Brera lost something from concept to production. I doesn't look the same as the powerful rwd concept that preceeded it. It looks like a Alfa body on a GM chassis to me at times.

Funny and to the point. Design awards mean nothing, since everyone in the civilised wold has his own taste...in 2006 more so than ever.

I like the Brera, but the German cars almost all look better to me (and drive better for sure, which is even more important).

how can it be most beautiful car in the world if they are like only considering non prestige stuff? a 300C with spinners should have easily won against the rest LOL, i think they should have taken a look at some half decent car like the SL before they made that award haa, as for car awards, wow its getting annoying, there is like no overall award, every magazine and website has its own and half the time it doesnt matter if they are any good or not, just which ones they would rather have lol

don't take my words wrong . Some cars look good, some look great, and some are totally disgusting. Also, some cars look better than others. And the 407 looks better than the other non-prestige cars, but hell no better than any german or swedish ( ) car. And not in that colour. Maybe silver or black, but not red. Compared to dad's Laguna (yes we have another renault) it looks better....

I think the price should have gone to AMV8. It has the same shape as the Brera but it far much better designed.

Yeah the concept was hot. The production car has a very sexy front but the rear could have been designed better. The car is flawed.
