It's been a while since we've last heard from you. You were bearing the beautiful gift pictured above, I seem to recall.

Interesting piece of innovation.

So, from the press release I understand that AIS consists of a hydraulic system consisting of a pump and two foldable injectors. Those injectors spray a controlled water jet, thus allowing the tyre to easily penetrate the large body of water that would, otherwise, cause aquaplanning.

It's a good idea, but it's up to sensors to understand whether there are possible aquaplanning conditions ahead, unfold the injectors and spray the damn liquid. Questions should be raised about the reaction speed of this system, how much water does it consume per incident and how exactly do those sensor detect the possible aquaplanning conditions.

Another cheaper and easier solution is to use your brain and drive slower should there be risk of aquaplaning.

PS: Error in the title of Audi press release: It is "aquaplaning", with one "n", from the word "plane"/"planing", not "plan"/"planning".
