I did not find anything related here but that doesn't mean there is no knowledge on GCF, so I come asking for help:
I will be upgrading my car audio soon and I need suggestions as for which brands should I buy and what do you think of my planned setup.
The car as you may know is a VW Gol (brazilian Polo) which I was planning to replace by a Polo (buyed) or entry level BMW (leased) but due to different reasons, that boat has sailed and now I will keep the Gol.
I recently got a job at Ford (I am getting training, then I hope I keep the job) and tried the sound system on the Focus ST, which is equipped with Sony 9 speaker system. It sounds great and now I'm spoiled. I know its still factory and not top notch, but it makes my car sound really bad.
Im looking to get clear highs and crisp mids with a powerful punchy bass as the Focus but I don't want that always present hum and vibrations produced by a big subwoofer like I've heard before. I also used to have quality headphones and I could listen to the bass line along with the guitar. How can I get that?
I'll do it on stages as follows. If you think something is wrong please tell me:
Current setup:
-A pillar tweeters
-Door speakers mounted low
-Rear C pillar speakers
-1 din stereo
Planned setup in stages
-Replace door speakers with component mids (Focal seems to be good)
-Replace head unit with something that gives me fade balance bass/treble/mid equalization and good sound quality with media options since I use iPhone as source (Pioneer MVH series???) and pre amp
-Install amplifier for speakers (will a four cannel be enough for front and rear speakers and tweeters? or should I get a 6 channel?) (Is soundstream fine??)
-Install woofer amp and 2 small under seat woofers (Pioneer under seat woofers??)
-Replace rear coaxials and front tweeters (Brand??)
I don't want to spend more than 1500 USD on this and I don't think I need to. I will dynamat everything and deaden road noise with some kind of foam which I havent researched.
Thanks in advance for your help
EDIT: there is aftermarket in my country, but only well know and high volume brands like sony, pioneer, kenwood, soundstream and all of that. The only 2 things I would put more money than planned (since I can keep them for long) are a McIntosh head unit or amplifier. I trust McIntosh but never heard of their car audio products and there seem to be none in their website (although I'm aware they exist)
If you want to share your aftermarket sound systems in current or previous cars, please do
