Don't worry Lotus, you may not be able to beat cheaper, better Porsches on the track but at least you can still beat winding up petitions from your creditors in the court room - at least until now... .

So what is wrong with you? You hate everything that is British? Rolls Royce? Ah, no that is German owned. Aston Martin? Yes, until it get owned by Mercedes.

Lotus is over bar the shouting, or the administrator's fees. The comparison above shows how ridiculous Lotus has become in the last five years or so particularly. Charging £60k plus for what looks like a kit car, with a Toyota engine, is either the height of confidence or the height of stupidity.

The Malaysians have apparently shown patience so far but with the new Cayman, Boxster and now Alfa 4C, all being cheaper and better, it can only be a matter of time before they grasp the nettle and shut Hethel down, to stem the mounting, unrecoverable losses.

I actually feel sorry for Lotus because if they were part of VAG and had their buying clout heaven knows what we would get. One thing I will say in its favour is few cars offer similar levels of handling finesse and steering feel.

Another medium sized FWD hatchback, with the 1.4TFSI and a bit different front and rear end, compared to the Golf, the A3, the Leon and the Rapid. ;)

Without a doubt. VAG sucks so much......

As for this test....all new Cayman against a freaking Lotus???? Whahahhaha only in a British mag.....
