Sorry to those of you who thought seeing the title for this thread that there would be new info and pics. I wanted to open up and start some dialogue on this car, as this appears to be the car that will revolutionize the way Audi's drive, and perhaps push BMW out of the way for ultimate road thrills. What do you guys think?

too soon to say....except a complete redesign...thats all i know...and that it will be aluminum

I dont know that Audi will use aluminum as a whole for the chassis for such a mass produced car. I'm more than sure that aluminum will be apart of many chassis components such as the suspension, etc.

I've heard that Audi is going to push the front wheel forward so the engine sits farther back and isn't hanging over the frpont wheels. This should give better weight distribution and give it handling as a result. Otherwise I haven't really heard anything. I hope that they don't wait to the B9 (the facelift of the B8) to introduce a RS4. The current one is insane so I can't wait to see how they top it.

I've heard that the engine will sit behind the front axle or further behind it, from several sources. I'll be very interested to know what kinds of engines will be on tap for the new cars, because as it stands in the face of the new and improved competiton, the new units, are underpowered. The B8 really isn't at all far away... I've heard 08' for launch. RS4 will more than hold us over til' then... maybe the B8 S4 will get an advanced unit of the RS4's engine? Or perhaps a bi turbo engine of some sort??? Also it should be mentioned that the next A4(we'll probably see this car before the next A4 though) will spawn the basis for the A5 coupe(Nuvolari for the masses), and all pics indicate that this will be one sexy coupe. A little uneasy on what I think the price might be??? This new coupe is suppose to sit between the A4 and A6.

oh no they definetly will not be all aluminum but most of it will be.

If they want to best BMW on "driving pleasure" they better make that all wheel drive prefer the rear wheels. They need to re-orient their system so most of the power goes to the rear wheels.

Eh, that's what they're doing right now, it's a 40:60 torque split. Though from some articles I've heard, this can only be felt when going through corners, which is enough I guess. Probably will never be the riot you experience when mashing down on the accelerator of a C55 AMG. Who knows, we'll see what happens, but having driven an S4 w/ the 50:50 split, it's still fun to mash down.

If the B8 is suppose to have the engine set farther back behind the front axle, that means that there will be a longer hood, and in recent years, Audi never designed cars w/ long hoods, they were cars w/ true front wheel drive design proportions. The rubrick for cars with longer hoods w/ the engine set behind the front axle is half a wheel in front of the A pillar. This would mean Audi would have to do this for all cars.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
