944 944 Porsche Build [4/16/2017]

The Porsche 944 is a sports car manufactured by Porsche from 1982 until 1991. A front-engine, rear-wheel drive mid-level model based on the 924 platform, the 944 was available in coupé or cabriolet body styles, with either naturally aspirated or turbocharged engines.

Hey guys, So long story short I've decided to do a summer build and have just today decided to go with a 1984-1986 Porsche 944. I still need to photoshop mock ups of exactly what I want and read up a lot more for fitment and electrical. However I just wanted to make this thread to reach out to those prior to my build who have done what I want, or know more about what I plan on doing and want to give me a heads up or just how to go about these things in general. So I'm gonna kick this off with a few pictures of the car I'm currently looking at and what a generally want it to look like in the end.

So its a tall order... wait till you see my budget.

Vehicle budget: $2,000
944 porsche - $1,400-$2,000

Engine Swap Budget: $2,500
LS1 Engine: $2,300

Interior budget: $2,000-$3,000
Sparco Seats x2 : $1,400
Steering Wheel: $80
Roll Cage: $400
refab: $300
Other: ??

Exterior budget: $4,000-$5,000
Body kit : $1,800
Spoiler: $900
Paint: $1,300
Wheels: $1,500
Other: ??

I'm looking to have most of this done by September 26th (my birthday)

However the question I mainly have is, are there issues when swapping to a LS1?

What is the difficulty?

Should I upgrade the transmission as well.

I don't like swapping engines from totally other manufacturer. Especially when I see 911 with LS1 or RX8 with LS1, I get creeps. I rarely like that (VW with Audi V8 or something like that).

Eh, understandable but i'm looking to have something somewhat unique and a lot of power. In my budget it seems like a LS1 is the best option.

Or you could look for a crashed V8 engines Audi, keep it in the VAG family, it would be even more unique. Why don't you google Porsche 944 V8 conversion, you get plenty of hits, there's a lot of companies selling LS1 conversion kits, which hardly makes it unique.

The rear wing on the third photo is downright nasty and completely ruins a very good looking car.
