Come on guys don't mention the cars in the same sentence. The E46 M3 was far from as good as the 996TT, and please don't mention the M3 CSL becasue that is a very different car. Stick with comparing the M3 with RS4 and C55, the 911 turbo is something much greater. ;)

Yes and No. Both cars, without doubt, are icons. The Porsche is a Porsche, the Bimmer, a BMW. Both cars are engineered to the same standards, there is very little that acutally stand between them other than image and a few numbers. I think us BMW nutz have gone nutz looking for a true and pure BMW sports car(some would say that was the Z8, but that was more a roadster/GT if you can imagine), when BMW's sports car has been right in front of us the whole while, for 18 years.

No no no. They both have not been engineered to the same standards. The M3 is a very good sports car, offers some nice space and doesn't have a too crazy price tag. The 911TT on the other hand has been the benchmark for high performance sports car and when realeased has allways killed all cars on the road(except the super cars off course).

The M3 simply doesn't measure up to the 911 in terms of power, handling, precision or image. It's not even a close battle between the two. The M3 is only race rule when it comes to cars cheaper than 100k but other than that it can't satisfy people the way a 911TT does. Although BMW could have shaped the Z4 M coupe into a potential 911 competitor.

Sorry, still disagree w/ you.

P.S. Where did you find that awesome avatar? :D

Okey I'll let you enjoy this one but don't tell me to whipe your tears of your face when E92 and 997TT sportauto laptimes, and 0-200km/h figures are out. :D

BTW official information and pictures are said to be presented ont he 16th Feb. Two weeks to go. I hope the official pictures are gorgeous. :)

M3 isnt aiming for the turbo, just the carrera models

Luwarlia, you're right.

I just read a review of the new 997 TT in the March issue for CAR magazine. W/ the advanced 4WD system(100 percent of torque can be sent to one wheel if there is forward rotation in such a case as loss of traction), specialized engine management system specifically designed around the turbo/s, this car is way ahead of whatever the E92 may offer. Just the same I'm sure the E92 WON'T get it's nose bloodied up against a 997TT, it will just seem a tad more "tame" than it's Stuttgart cousin.

The steering of the car is even said to be more direct and responsive than the one in the ordinary 997. While testing the car in north of Sweden it has been reported that the car has amazing grip although it wasn't tested with proper winter tyres. Sounds like a good car to be. :eusa_danc

Yeah I've seen it, quite cool and daring to use your sports car during Winter.

BTW does anyone of you know anything about Gallardo's 4-wheeld rive system?

This is one mean looking machine!
