This is from a few weeks ago but it is an amazing advancement for medical science ......but just as impressive is the extremely charming and gregarious young boy who received the transplant.

That's pretty incredible. 50 or so years ago transplant of limbs was not possible, or when attempted success wasn't long lasting. Our hands are mechanically one of the most complex things in nature and gives us the power to do things that other creatures cannot. Even through robotics we have challenges in replicating what our hands can do.

It will be interesting to follow how much mobility he'll be able to develop using his new hands.

Really good stuff, thanks for the share.

I am really curious as to how he progresses. As Centurion points out, hand movements are very complex. As he's young, there's still some neural plasticity to help better coordinate movements, especially gross movements, but is it enough to gain and master some of the finer movements?

Here's hoping his progress is without complications. Props to the doctors and researchers behind this. I love the kid's spirit.
