this has been posted before
but its still a nice review enjoy

I saw the video but I did not understand the overall Judgment. I.E. How did they feel about the car ? Did they like it ??

They loved it more or less.. but they complained about the Night vision.. and said that it was a gimmick.. but later on i heard that they said they didnt have enough time to test it properly..
Ohh and that plato fool was to afraid to trust the Disctronic PLUS.. but he loved the car overall..

They really liked it, the short discussion after the test drive was interesting. Tiff Needell made some valid points.

I also watched the test drive of the Bentley FS - was quite impressed with the result - I thought asking those DJ's what they thought of it was pretty pointless though - who cares what some badly-dressed slob thinks is cool or not.

Is there any way i can watch that Bentley test drive too? It would be very interesting.

Here you go Yannis.

The link was at the bottom of the S class video.

So the Night Vision option is useless? It might be because the guy is standing 150 meters away, maybe a couple of meters closer and it would have worked well. I also agree with the guy, it should have been a HUD, not in the speedometer.

Funny how he didn't trust the Distronic Plus feature. It was slowing down, wasn't it?

That test with the nightvision is pretty clear. You could see the bottom of his feet, but you couldn't see anything on the screen.

The good point they made is that the nightvision is too low... I guess the Idrive system would have the same problem.

This car OWNZ! i hope you all saw the old S-classes rating on the fifth gear website.......5 Stars also.....beat the 7 series and A8 LOL

I was wondering about the statement that the Nachtsichtassistent is just a "gimmick" - I've tried it out once and it worked great.
Maybe I've found the answer:
As far as I know the IR-lamps get activated at 15 kph but they tested it while standing, therefore the camera just showed an digital image of the night...

the other presenter, not needell, the other man who said he was going to buy one said he had seen it work a lot better! apparently fifth gear had to rush the whole filming of it and film it while going along as they had to return it back to mercedes on time (although apparently they still got back late - it was on their website about it!!)
as for 15kph...where did you see that? can you find it (i believe you!!) i just want to email 5th gear and tell them they are retarded!!

It's even written in the manual (over 550 pages!) - but I only know where it is in the german version - is it already online in an english version?

"S-Klasse" / "Vertiefen" / "Bedienen" / "Fahrsysteme" and then Page 37 the comment beneath the "i" in the blue circle - who doesn't believe can translate it with google... ;-)

You're right. I looked up the English version and I found it. BTW, thanks for the link to the Interactive Owner's Manual (y)
