IS/RC 5th gear and Tiff drives the new Lexus IS-F

Tiff Needell from Fifth Gear test drives the IS-F.

Tiff was very annoyed by the gearbox.

It kept Bleeping at him on upshifts and downshifts. He kept saying "SHUT UP!" Bleep "JUST GIVE ME A GEAR, SHUT UP!" Bleep, Bleep, Bleep....

He also complained of too much oversteer and he only used 5 out of the 8 gears on the track.

Tiff loved the 5.0 liter throaty roaring V8 sound.

All and all, it put a smile on his face and said it was a very good effort by Lexus.

"The engine is tuned by Yamaha". How the hell did that happen!?

Anyways, that gearbox as irritating as an ant crawling up my hairy posteria but Im still convinced its an excellent first effort by Lexus.

Toyota owns a 5 percent share in Yamaha Motor Company. Also:

Yamaha has also built engines for other manufacturers' vehicles, most notably the V-6 and V-8 engine for the Ford Taurus SHO. The Volvo XC90 uses a larger version of the same Yamaha V-8 engine. They also built Formula One racing engines from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s, with little on track success. In 1991, Yamaha developed its F1 engined supercar called the OX99-11 where two drivers sit in tandem in front of the engine, but the project was canned due to the world recession and lack of interest.

Yamaha also tunes engines for other manufacturers, Toyota being one of them. Yamaha logos are, for instance, found on the Toyota S engines.

Yamaha developed a prototype for a two-seater sports car with help of Albrecht Goertz. While the Yamaha/Nissan partnership never progressed beyond the prototype stage, Toyota took up the design and released the Toyota 2000GT.

It seems that IS-F is not as good as expected..Gearbox,looks even..IMO is not on german level..But no matter..first kittens are to be thrown away after all(please,don´t take this to exact words,I love cats ) ..

Quite what was to be expected... they will do alot better next time. To me, the IS-F seems to be to the M3 what the IS 250 is to the 325.
