That Huckfeldt's old impression of M2 does not showcase well the face of the upcoming 2er.

M2 is still in the "business case" phase - meaning the marketing & financial experts are working on the case. When the work will be done & the report ready the BoM will decide to give a green light or not. Sometimes later this year.

I really hope they give the m2 green light.

It can t be thru the new m3 v8 is the "cheapest" 4 seats M car to begin with.

I have had 2 E46 m3 testdrove a 130i and i was sold because of the handling already fantastic out of the box. bought the 130i and did some tweaks on it like recaro race seats and LSD better suspension and that car gives so manny driving fun. Bmw M should do something with this fantastic agile car not in hatchback style but in coupe style. Downside on non M cars like the 130i is the lack of M treatment on the engine. Throttle respons intake sound on M car is increadable.

Lets just pray for a green light.

Btw, 3dr 1er testing prototypes also carry un upcoming I4 turbo engine for the sporty 1er version - to fight VW & Audi cars.

BMW want to release the car at the 3dr 1er launch, or very soon after that.

Some exterior design features will indicate it is a sporty model, while "normal" version will have same design as 5dr 1er.

This will be 1er top-model. There will definitely be no M1, while M2 (coupe & cabrio) is still in the project evaluation phases, and not yet given the final red or green light.

I'll try to find out the exact HP numbers of I4 turbo engine, and the launch date of 1er 3dr.

I am not a big turbo fan. But next to an M2 it s ok. I rather have a nice high rev atmo. But i can understand bmw for making an 4cil turbo to give some competition to the sporty vw and audi seat hatchback models.

Same here, more so because I'll actually be able to consider that car for purchase since it's coming stateside. At least now we know how sexy a 1er is w/ two doors!!!

I don't know about that one. Even still, there's a 300bhp+ R36 to come very very soon when the new Golf is launched in a year or so.
