Volvo just doesn't mean anything to me anymore. It's a soulless nothing now. An offbeat, but once respected and desirable brand for me, is pretty much gone. I don't even care enough to comment on this car really.

Off Topic, but it's clear that MBUSA made a mistake by giving up on Smart here in the US. The brand seems to have much better, more desirable products know???

The #5 would be a very hard competitor for the 3 premium EVs.

Door handles are electric and manual from the inside and outside. Even with a dead 12V battery you can open the car from inside and outside.

Oh yes. The GLC is very different. Traditional. Out of the three it's the one that looks most like a car rather than an EV both inside and outside. Night and day difference in design philosophy between the GLC and EX60.
Personally I prefer the calm EX60 interior over the busy GLC interior. I haven’t seen “night” photos of the EX60 interior yet, but I guess it has the wonderful “light through wood panels”. MB, BMW & co are still messing around with busy stripes in all types of neon colours, even my kids are tired of this.

I can grasp that brands such as Volvo and Polestar do not appeal to those who embrace attention grabbing pizzazz in the form of automobiles. Or are in professions that require exhibitions of lavish hedonism in order to gain acceptance from like-minded customers and associates. Legitmate motivations to purchase/lease a German "Big Three" premium brand.

But it is precisely here where, IMHO, Volvo and Polestar occupy a very legitimate niche. Nothing ostentatious, no gimmickry. Simply unpretentious, solid, timelessly designed and hence enduring vehicles.

Just my 2 Euro cents.

Why did they put the interior of a Korean Van in it?
What baffles me is that Volvo used to be kings of ergonomic design. If I recall correctly, the mk1 S60/V70 was voted in the top 5 most ergonomic interior. Slapping a huge touch screen in the place of everything else is cheap, stupid and dangerous. No matter how good it looks or cheap it is, I'm never buying such a product.

On the other hand, I've been spending some time with a 2019 Cayenne lately and that interior must have over 100 buttons. I stopped at a red light the other day and started counting physical buttons. The lights turned green and there still a few buttons yet to count. That is a complicated mess as well.
