I like that you can delete the light bar

I have to say that there are a number of colours that really transform this car into something alot more desirable.

I chose a GT55 and added about €30K of options to lift it to 186K. I didn't include the light bar or light up grill. It looks stunning in this Manufaktur Hyacinth metallic red with beech brown and black Nappa leather with black 21 inch cross spoke wheels and night package.

I hope the front "grille" does not look as flat as some real life pics are suggesting. By "flat" I mean, no texture around those pan-americana ribs. I'd hate for buyers to have to select the lighting package (which I dislike beacuse it comes with that hideous cross light bar) to accentuate the front.

Consider "customers" such as: The Vatican. Sultan of Brunei. Emirate sheikhs... Not explicitly Manufaktur or Mythos-yet still indications of what is possible when the most financially solvent customers approach Mercedes-Benz.
If they can order many one-off cars and still keep them top secret, what other secret projects could they have that will never see the light of day, one might ask.

One of the most eye-catching elements is how trim the new one is compared to the previous model.
For an EV with a battery pack and 3-motors underneath, there is room for full-size adults in the rear and a nice-sized boot.

I have prepared a table to compare the AMG GT EV 4dr vs rivals from Audi and Porsche as well as the 2dr AMG GT.

In terms of price and performance it is very competitive, but ultimate bang for buck is with the Audi E Tron GT.

The car is actually lower to the road and has a lower roof than the old AMG GT, which definitely is quite impressive for such a car with huge battery pack in the floor.
It also has the rear seat footwell, so you don't sit with your knees in the ceiling.

Overall I must say the packaging is pretty brilliant and well done. In this particular side view the proportions are simply better than the old AMG GT 4 door ICE model.

Just a shame the design is vile, and has nothing whatsoever to do with MB's historic cars.
And I simply hate this 4 door coupe fad. Should have been a proper sedan. But that is just me.

Why is the Taycan Turbo GT 200 kg lighter? Are you sure about these weights?

Why is the Taycan Turbo GT 200 kg lighter? Are you sure about these weights?
Well yes I obtained the weights all from the Porsche website. The AMG GT is quite a bit larger than the Taycan Turbo GT (130mm longer) and has a 106kwh battery vs 97kwh battery so like @AbsoluteUnit mentioned the extra mass probably comes from the extra size and battery.

First of all, nice write-up. (pat on the shoulder for being concise and to the point.)
Yes, the packaging is impressive and efficient. Most pure EVs are rather tall and disproportionate looking.
Personally, I am not slammed to the floor with the design either, but I think this is one of those cars that you have to see in the metal to appreciate.
Remember what I said earlier about AMG and its design. This GT was developed from the ground up by them, so its design roots will have little to do with the luxury side of Mercedes. AMG is all about performance.
I agree with the 4-door coupe fad. It seems most everyone is doing it. If AMG had gone with a traditional 3-box sedan shape like an E-Class for example, it would have created a higher drag coefficient, reducing its battery range at higher speeds.
This car was designed like a 4-door coupe to optimize aerodynamic efficiency. It's basically a 4-door supercar. I personally wish they had taken steps to make it a little more distinctive in its design. I still like it, though.

Yeah that's fair enough I suppose. Didn't really think about it that way.

I do however think that "AMG" is way too present and important within Mercedes. If only they gave as much love to their core luxury vehicles.
A bespoke ground up Mercedes/Maybach (EV) might have been better than yet another sports car. Particularly when you make it EV only.

The AMG EV's bones are perfectly fine if not great. It's just ruined by terrible design in both the front and rear. And both of them can easily and cost effectively be fixed just like the current 7er which literally went from awful to brilliant with just a few minor tweaks.

A well done facelift should do absolute wonders for this car.

If AMG had gone with a traditional 3-box sedan shape like an E-Class for example, it would have created a higher drag coefficient, reducing its battery range at higher speeds.

Nah, the difference would be meaningless in real life. Watch the upcoming EV version of the new E class drive further than this, while being boxier and more spacious.

Still think the OG CLS remains the perfect mix of traditional 3 box sedan and coupe. It simply hits a sweet spot not seen since. Same counts for the OG BMW X6. This new AMG is just over the top for me personally, but at least proportion wise it's an improvement over the ICE AMG 4 door, which looks like a beached whale. This EV looks smooth like the Taycan.
