When the CEO is here to promote a car, you know you have a problem.

I'm trying my best to cut through the fluff and focus solely on the AMG.EA architecture and its potential to evolve into a massive gamechanger. Of course, I'll be pleased if the car looks stellar as well.

It looks like the quintessential generic EV to me, with a Model 3 front.
Hard hard pass.

Also, by the time this tech reaches a conventional C class, it will be obsolete. The EV community is not going to wait for Ola.

Not to mention, the rear end design is already present in the new GLC and C-Class EQ. So not even from a design perspective seems to be anything new…

Why is this a bad decision?
Because I believe Mercedes can't tolerate any more potential failures with EVs, and in my opinion, as I've already stated, it's an unnecessary risk with a high probability of generating losses due to the current situation. Furthermore, I think that if it goes wrong, it will bring terrible publicity in the medium term.

I understand that you think differently and justify it based on the technological advancements to be presented, but my opinion is that it's more bad than good.

The Mercedes CEO has been present on most pre production drives of not just their EV models but also the ICE models. I don't believe it's a bad thing, he is giving journalists a lot of his time and also promoting the new products of the company. He is going the extra mile more than other car CEOs are. Even the AMG CEO was driving the AMG GT EV in the latest videos last week.

The success of Mercedes is not hinging on this model. It's not some kind of volume model in their product planning portfolio. If the GLC EV was a failure, sure that would be a major problem. Early indications seem to point to them being OK on that front. I believe it is fairly obvious to everyone that this car is not entering a market full of enthusiastic customers.

This is a technical showcase more than anything. Mercedes needs to reassert that they know what they're doing on the EV and ICE side and AMG is a major part of that. Retreating after their best modern EV AMG effort was the AMG EQS would indicate major weakness.

All those responsible for the development of this car appear so...genuinely moved. That's identification. That's dedication. And that's...simply touching. And now I am all the more keeping my fingers crossed that this car makes a resounding impact as a true game changer.
