GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) 2026 AMG GT 4-Door Vision EV

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) is the first generation five-door variant of the AMG GT two-door sports car. Production: September 2018– Model years: 2019–
No thankyou. Not for the time being, at least.

This car will represent an extremely valuable litmus test regarding the customer response to a large sport-luxury BEV with such remarkable, such compelling auditory-tactile sensory synthesis. The car has the potential to become a highly significant game-changer.

And if not...M-B/AMG can mark it down to experience. Or lessons learned from a bold potentially, transformational experiment. These do not come for free.

Agreed. Not for now at least. I doubt the chassis could accommodate an ICE.

But Mercedes could be about to make a major breakthrough when it comes to an emotional EV experience. If a synthesised AMG V8, in terms of sound and power delivery, can't provide the experience that EV naysayers want, I doubt any EV will.

Nah, I've passed my exams long ago. And he's not native either if you mean LaArtist
He did teach me how to swear. He's really good at that.

He'll be here in a few days anyways, for a driveby in the BMW Alpina thread to say how disgusting that car looks.

Like clockwork, no doubt about it.

Get your husband to tutor you. He should have time, as he hardly posts here anymore.

Klier is a woman?

Just the current crop of old farts like us who are used to mechanical cars.

Gen Z will swallow it all up, when they make enough money to buy one in 25 years.
You and I are just a fleeting moment in the grander scheme of it all.

Also, @Dopebouy, you don't have to be a woman to love a man. My love for LaArtist is not even sexual, it's emotional and very deep.
Apart from Porsche and Pagani, he's got an absolutely awful taste in cars sadly.

The Taycan Turbo GT is our experiment of all this. NOBODY WANTS IT.

Porsche even saw best to break EV records on the Nürburgring with the car, That’s all people see of it.

But we’ll have a chat on this after 2 years.

Oh yes, simply as a point of reference in this particular context (based on factual information readily available to the common public):

New car registrations since respective start of sales and until the end of 03/2026 in the EU, UK and Norway:

Porsche Taycan: ca. 92,000+ units

M-B W/V223 S-Class: ca. 48,000+ units

Audi etron GT: 38,000+ units

BMW G70 7 series: ca. 14,000+ units

Of course, this data does not include the crucial unit sales figures in North America, China, India, Russia and the UAE. Strongest more recent unit registration growth rates go to the BMW G70 7er.

Porsche delivered 3,420 examples of the Taycan in the first quarter, representing a decline of 19 per cent.

There was a time when the Taycan was delivering 47,000 units a year. The decline is unbelievable.

Not really in the grander scheme of things. In September of this year, the Taycan J1 (+.2) will have been on the market for 7 years. Quite a long time. Political/sociopolitical influences, domestic as well as geopolitical, have made the playing fields far more difficult to navigate. Digital media has often been sensationalistic as well as belligerently hostile-and often simply very poorly informed. Porsche AG's pricing models have a history of being simply brazen. And the once very significant Chinese market has evaporated due to homemade products becoming increasingly better and better as well as providing far more value for far less money. And the U.S. ? Trump tariffs, MAGA reactionaries and whatever have not made life easier for Porsche AG and particularly the Taycan and Macan-e. Perfect storm, so to speak.

I don't understand the reason for that sales comparison, since the cars you mention there were released several years apart.
I would like to access that source

Actually, my main objective was to counter the frequent "NOBODY WANTS...", "NOBODY BUYS..." etc. narratives encountered here. Of course, the sales introduction divergences should be taken into account. No argument from me there. I've got a bit of a problem with gross generalizations, I'm afraid.

AMuS have done a first drive of the GT EV
