GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) 2026 AMG GT 4-Door Vision EV

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) is the first generation five-door variant of the AMG GT two-door sports car. Production: September 2018– Model years: 2019–
At this point and from what you can see there, it's as fast as a rocket, the "9-speed" transmission and engine sound system integrated into the car's behavior seems so good that some unwary driver might end up driving to a gas station

"Auditory-Tactile Synthesis" apparently mastered. A safe bet that we will be seeing more of this in the future, not only in M-B AMG BEVs. As an option of the driver's choice. A driver can relax in almost silent "subdued whirrr e-motor mode", yet should he/she choose, "rumble, burble, hiss and pop" will be available at the fingertip.

The AMG GT C190 served as the inspiration for the authentic V8 sound.

The V8 sound is simulated with remarkable accuracy and played through the sound system. The sound was recorded from the AMG GT (C190) model year 2014 onwards (not from the current C192 generation). Due to less stringent emissions standards, the sound of the C190 generation AMG GT was even more authentic and unfiltered.

Maybe future AMG EV's will include an App Store that allow you to buy different sounds for €1.99.

I do find it shameful to have an EV play fake engine sounds. It is as if the first ICE cars made the sound of a horse or something.

Well back when the first cars were being introduced, you didn't have a litany if horse enthusiasts and horse journalists acting like a bunch of little babies at the very idea of cars and waxing lyrical about how cars don't have the soul or the feel or the sound of a thoroughbred horse.

The only reason this gimmick exists, is because people seemed to love it on the Ionic 5N and people keep complaining about the lack of "soul" in EVs.

Silly. I have heard several Taycans on the street and on my parking at home and the sound is cool enough, no need to further fake it IMO.

This isn't the case. Active sound to change the note of a combustion engine as heard in the cabin has been a thing for thirty years. It's nothing to do with EVs (or horses), it's because of the psycho-acoustic and neuro-biological appeal of certain sounds to humans - it just so happens the rhythym and percussion of engines tick quite a lot of boxes in the same way music does.
