I seriously love Citroen's latest designs. This one looks amazing, unlike, let's say the latest BMW X2, that looks like what would come out of Optimus Prime, if he sneezed and farted at the same time.

Citroën's latest designs are definitely creative and different from what you'd typically expect from a mainstream manufacturer -- even though Hyundai and Kia have shaken up that assumption quite a bit in recent years, so eccentric and unconventional is probably becoming the new norm for mainstream brands. And that quirkiness happens to be totally in accordance with Citroën's DNA.

What's more regrettable is that ever since the DS brand emerged about a decade and a half ago as an attempt to revive the essence of the luxury Citroëns of the past, first as a range of special models within Citroën, then as a standalone brand, Citroën has been downgraded so as to not step on DS's toes and has lost most of its former charm and aura for the sake of leaving DS the premium spot, focusing instead on the lower range segments for practical young buyers (C3, Ami...), and has de facto become Stellantis's other budget brand alongside Fiat. The Citroën/DS split may have been worth it if DS had managed to attract the coveted premium clientele, but it's failing miserably, not so much due to poor products as due to a lack of image justifying the higher price.

Therefore Citroën's decapitation is now more than ever questionable, and I believe DS may not survive another decade if it keeps underperforming. Until then, the Citroën/DS situation remains pretty awkward, as Citroën must walk on eggshells avoiding any reference to the upmarket products of its former self so as to not interfere with DS, while DS in turn lacks the credibility that other premium brands usually derive from a continuity of historical lineage, since DS has deliberately cut itself from Citroën all the while trying to give itself credence from the past glory of Citroën... It's a true clusterf#ck.
