1 Series 2024 BMW 1 SERIES

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
The first 1er was just much better than the current one.

If that was what Marski was implying, there fully agree.

I think what Marski was implying, was that as a day to day hatch back, the E8x generation was a bit rubbish. Don't get me wrong, it felt very similar to both the E36 and E90 to drive, but if you were buying it because you needed a practical car, you bought the wrong car. I really liked it, but in practice I'd have been no worse off just getting another E36 coupe.

Sorry for the Marski. Fat finger there haha.

Correct. It was marked as “The Only 1” which brought a number of firsts for the segment. Practicality not being one of them. But it did prove that a perceived luxury brand could push and downsize into other segments with a brand attributed premium product. Audi’s A3 being the first. Envisioned as a full line to mimic its 3er. Only 3dr and 5dr hatches,a coupe and Cabrio made it to production. The Touring which was cancelled would have been a great addition.
Unfortunately it pushed Mercedes to abandon its quirky A-Klasse concept into another premium c-segment hatch competitor.

I absolutely love the E8x gen. A simple 120i was already pretty glorious with RWD and a manual gearbox.... And the 130i just is a dream car to me.

Chap I knew had the WTCC special edition one with the wheels from the 320si, and a Quaife LSD fitted. Certainly a great entry to the BMW brand. I looked at 130i's for a bit, but the insurance was unusually high and lots of the ones for sale were fixed insurance jobs -- they obviously get crashed a lot.

I loved the 130i, that was a great car with that 265PS inline 6 NA engine. Pretty quick in a straight line. This model in rainy conditions and over 200K km on the clock could manage 6.45sec to 100km/h.

Yupp. Insurance for 130i, 135 and 140i is high. Too many young drivers and first time RWD owners crashing them.

It's cheaper to insure for a Nissan GTR or even C63.

Probably too soon for the NK language though.

Still the most un-BMW BMW (apart from the Vans). Looks fugly even in the top end version proportion wise.....
People are far better off with an X1, sadly. And sales reflect this.

RWD or bust. NK based cars can't come soon enough. The Vision Circular is amazing.

Blimey, a long way to go before we see the real thing and already we're getting 'looks like..' shit posting and subsequent likes. The syphilis of BMW threads.
