The segment where the CLS is located is no longer popular and the sales of the current generation are also very low. With Mercedes' model simplification strategy in place, a successor is no longer possible. EQE has already replaced the CLS. In the new arrangement at the Sindelfingen plant, by the end of 2023, there will be E class, GLC and S class-EQS.

Looks like exhaust has melted the snow, doesn't it? :)

Mercedes does not have a new ICE car in its current plan. The last model to be released on current platforms will be the CLE. Tests with his own body have already begun. From 2024, models on the new platforms MMA (compact and mid-range, which can be integrated with the new M252 internal combustion engine), MB.EA and AMG.EA (electric only) will be launched. If a new model is to be released from scratch, it will come with these 3 platforms. So don't expect a surprise model with ICE platform.

They made that much clear last summer. We will still see ICE powertrain mules for a while longer though.

This could be a winner.

The camoed front reminds me of the C class W206 while camoed and the rear reminds me of the S class coupe camoed. This looks delicious while camouflaged so hopefully it will turn out as a looker.

It has wonderful wheelarch flares and bulging bonnet. Going to be a potential winner for sure

An ICE with 4 pots?
Old and done right now already, and not even launched. This'll be worse than the S class, which already is old.

MB doesn't seem to be able to make EV version of it's ICE platform. C class, upcoming E class and S class are all f'ing dinosaurs of the highest order. Big, big, biiiiiiiig problem. Because of that we're stuck with the quickly and cheaply developed EQ cars.

CLE looks nice I guess, but that's entirely besides the point. The S class and C class look nice too. But looking nice is just one little aspect.
And with the camo on this CLE looks a bit like a mild facelift of the current C coupe/cabrio....

Any info on the engine line-up? Will there be a BEV or PHEV drivetrain option for the CLE? Or just mild hybrids?

This new CLE is so far shaping up to be a very elegant looking coupe. The current E-class coupe looks blimming great already and hopefully this CLE will not look any worse.
