First Matrix clip and it seems there has been a lot of updates to the original system. In fact it seems to be importing some elements of the Wachowski's short lived Netflix global drama "Sense8" which was when you got past the connected Orgies was a decent enough take on exitensial science fiction. Unfortunately it never got fleshed out properly only to have the ending rushed through.
Now one theory here is the original Matrix is actually a creation of the Matrix. A Matrix within a Matrix which sounds intriguing.

Thinking exactly same as you. Thought first "What the f..k, another Batman ! Why ?!" ... then looked at the trailer till the end and changed opinion. Still, coming after Nolan won't be easy...
