Genesis G80 2020 Genesis G80 Ditches Conservative Looks For More Emotion

The Genesis G80 is an executive sedan manufactured by Genesis. The G80 model was previously introduced as the second-generation Hyundai Genesis model (DH) and then rebranded as the G80 in 2016 after Genesis Motor was established as a separate luxury division of Hyundai.

Let’s hope the new G80 looks this sharp.
A new Genesis G80 sedan is coming – finally. Only, it won't have the V8 from the current model. Instead, the new G80 will probably have a Lambda V6 at the top of the range. In any case, we expect the new iteration to be a serious visual upgrade from the original, and with spy photos already on the web, one publication has imagined the new G80 in full.

The site Kolesa.ru visualized the all-new Genesis G80 using photoshop. In these two renderings, we see a dramatically different product than what's currently available. Up front, the concept swaps the traditional headlight fixture for dual LED light bars instead. It also gets the GV80 concept-inspired triangular grille (similar to what we've seen in spy photos), and a lower grille that looks ripped from the spy shots.

Things are a bit different out back. A dual light fixture ripped from the front fascia carries over here, as does a subtle lip spoiler and dual exhaust tips. Considering the prototypes haven't exposed their rear (yet), we take this design direction with a grain of salt. Look to the new G90, and its longer, more distinguished light bar for inspiration instead.

As confirmed by Genesis CEO Manfred Fitzgerald, the new Genesis G80 will debut in September “in Korea and subsequently on global markets,” the CEO notes. "With that car, you will see the next evolution of our design language," Fitzgerald added in an interview with Car and Driver.

We’re only a few weeks away from the world debut of the all-new 2020 Genesis G80 executive sedan that is scheduled for September in South Korea.

We’ve already seen G80 prototypes during testing, but the latest round of spy shots provides us with the clearest idea yet of the new exec sedan’s design.

Spotted undergoing dynamic testing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the 2020 G80 reveals more details, like the lower front grille that sports a similar mesh design to the main grille and the production exhausts which adopt a pentagonal shape.
Under the hood, the 2020 G80 will no longer feature the 5.0-liter V8 which on the current G80 Sportdelivers 420 HP (313 kW / 426 PS) and 383 lb-ft (519 Nm) of torque. Instead, it will likely feature a 365 HP 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 as its range-topping option.

An entry-level 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit and a hybrid version cannot be ruled out, given the current focus on cutting emissions and fuel consumption, though nothing is official just yet. Following the launch in its homeland, the 2020 G80 should arrive in U.S. dealerships in late 2019 or early 2020.

I don't like fastback sedans/4 door "coupes". Porsche Panamera and Audi A5 Sportbakc/A7 for this trend, although the French did it way before. These are worse cars than "coupe" crossovers.
