2015 Skoda Fabia teaser

Debuts at Paris Motor Show
Czech marque Skoda has released a design sketch which serves as a teaser for the third generation Fabia set to come out in the following months.

Don't get too excited after seeing this design sketch as we all know how the 2015 Fabia will end up looking, a mashup of Skoda's Rapid and Octavia models on a smaller scale. Spy photos of prototypes have already showed the design will largely mimic the bigger Skodas which isn't necessarily a bad thing but some fans of the brand are expecting a more diversified design. The Fabia used to have its own visual identity (especially first-gen) but it seems VW has decided it's time for a change to a design closely in line with other VAG products.

The five-door hatchback will continue with a revised PQ25 platform instead of making the switch to Volkswagen's MQB which would have jacked up the price. Engines and gearboxes will be largely carried over from the facelifted Polo while a vRS version will not be launched due to slow demand. Body styles will include the usual hatchback and wagon but Skoda is also taking into consideration bringing back the sedan which skipped the outgoing second generation. However, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to have a Fabia Sedan since Skoda already has the Rapid to fill in that role.

An online reveal is expected in the next few weeks, with a public debut scheduled to occur in October at the Paris Motor Show. Sales should kick off towards the end of the year or early 2015.

The first official sketch of the next gen Skoda Fabia hatchback was released this week and now a test mule donning production ready panels with decoy elements has been caught on tape in Skoda’s home country in the Czech Republic.

The next gen Skoda Fabia would be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.

The 2015 Skoda Fabia is the last of the automaker’s products to adopt the new corporate identity. The design waypoints to the new Fabia has been laid by the VisionC Concept that was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show this year. The quintessential Skoda design traits like the edgy front grille, central ridge on the bonnet, straight lines and tight sheet metal design are all there.

The new Fabia is based on an improved version of the existing platform.

The company has announced that the new car is 9 cm wider and 3 cm lower than the outgoing one which would make the interior roomier. Speaking of the interior, the car will get a completely new design, says Skoda.

Underpinning the new Fabia is a modernized version of the existing platform. The powertrain options are also expected to be carried forward from the present model albeit with minor improvements.

The long overdue replacement would grace the Paris Motor Show which takes place in the first week of October.

Skoda India’s revised strategy puts the Rapid on top priority and anything below that will have to wait at least until the end of 2015.

Next Skoda Fabia production to start at the end of August
To debut at Paris Motor Show
The next generation Skoda Fabia will reach the production line at the end of this month at the Mlada Boleslav plant.

Carscoops reports the factory will be prepared for the production process during the official holidays between August 4 and 15. In these days, the paint shop will be expanded and modernized, while the final zone of the assembly line will be modified. New robots are also expected.

Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda Board Member for Production and Logistics, says “we will be using the non-production days to further optimize production and so be more able to respond to the increasing consumer demand for our models. Above all, we shall be preparing Mlada Boleslav for the launch of the next Fabia generation. We are right on schedule to start the production of our newest model on time and to the highest quality”.

As previously reported, the car won’t be based on VW’s MQB platform and will use the PQ25 architecture of the outgoing model. The engine lineup will be sourced from the recently facelifted Volkswagen Polo, while a vRS version is not in the cards due to slow demand.

The new Fabia will likely be presented online in September prior to a Paris debut a month later.

Should debut in Paris
Skoda has released a new teaser image of the 2015 Fabia.

The latest picture doesn't reveal much but we can see the car will have an angular front bumper with stylish headlights. That's not much to go on but previous sketches have shown the model will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor but adopt styling cues from newer models such as the Rapid and Octavia.

The Fabia will be introduced later this year and be offered with a variety of three- and four-cylinder petrol engines with outputs ranging from 60 PS (44 kW) to 110 PS (81 kW). There will also be a 1.4-liter diesel with outputs from 75 PS (55 kW) to 105 PS (77 kW).

Is This the New 2015 Skoda Fabia Combi?

While we're all biting our nails in anticipation of the next official 2015 Skoda Fabia teasershowing the car's…tow hook, we received these photo scans of the Combi variant from one of our readers.

To be honest, we can't make out if they're digital renders or the real thing, so for the time being and until we learn more details, we're just going to leave a big ol' question mark here.

Even if they're computer-made, they shouldn't be too far off from the actual estate version of the new generation Fabia that will follow the five-door hatchback model, which itself, is set for a world premiere in Paris this fall.

First Skoda with MirrorLink technology
Skoda has released the first image depicting the 2015 Fabia's interior cabin.

Last week after a rather agonizing series of teasers, Skoda finally showed us the third-gen Fabia but only from the outside and today we get a first glimpse of the interior. As you can see, it's the typical Skoda configuration of a simple yet functional layout incorporated into an interior cabin which has been stretched by 8mm to 1674mm, even though the car is actually 8mm shorter than the model it replaces.

As a result of the expanded cabin, elbow room has increased by 21mm to 1401mm at the front and by 2mm to 1386mm at the back. Skoda says the third generation Fabia hatchback comes with the biggest trunk in its class, standing at 330 liters which makes it 15 liters more spacious than before. Fold down the rear seats and the loading capacity jumps to an impressive 1,150 liters. The loading area is 960mm (+20mm) wide while the rear access width has a 1098mm width and is matched with a low sill height for easy loading/unloading.

Boasting up to seventeen “Simply Clever” features including an ice scraper in the fuel filler cap, the overhauled Fabia is Skoda’s first model to come with MirrorLink technology. The system allows drivers to control smartphone apps from the infotainment screen via a USB connection. Other new features include a multimedia device cradle in the center console, bigger storage for bottles in the rear doors and glove compartment, parking ticket holder on the left-side A-pillar and two (optional) hooks in the trunk.

Trunk size will increase to about 520 liters
The first spy shots showing Skoda's third generation Fabia Combi have arrived at our office.

After seeing the third-gen Fabia hatchback in a preliminary set of official images, now time has come to take a look at the first batch of spy pictures with the more practical wagon derivative. We won't dwell too much on the design since it's carried over from the hatch, with the obvious exception of the rear where there's a longer overhang to accommodate a more spacious trunk.

The outgoing Skoda Fabia Combi offers an already generous (for this segment) cargo capacity of 505 liters but that number will grow to around 520 liters with the seats up. We base this assumption on the fact that the hatchback's trunk size has increased by 15 liters to 330 liters. The old Fabia Combi has a 1,485-liter luggage compartment if you fold down the rear seats so expect that third-gen model to hit the 1,500-liter mark.

Rumored to be half based on Volkswagen Group's MQB platform, the 2015 Skoda Fabia will feature a more than familiar interior cabin boasting up to seventeen Simply Clever features. One important feature is the adoption of MirrorLink technology which gives users the possibility to control their smartphone apps right from the touchscreen display available on upper-spec models.

Skoda probably won't wait too long to show us the Fabia Combi so we could see it in the next couple of months, possibly in October at the Paris Motor Show.

2015 Skoda Fabia Combi first images hit the web
Debuts this week in Paris
The first official images with the 2015 Skoda Fabia Combi have surfaced the Internet ahead of a full reveal set for later this week at Paris Motor Show.

Looking exactly like you would expect, the more practical version of the third generation Fabialargely borrows the hatchback's design but with a longer rear overhang to grant a more spacious trunk. We already know the car is 90mm wider and 31mm lower in comparison to the outgoing model and will offer a luggage capacity that will surely exceed the 505-liter trunk provided by the Fabia Combi II.

It will be available with a range of three- and four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines meeting Euro 6 emissions standards. The base gasoline unit is a three-cylinder 1.0-liter MPI rated at 60 HP (44 kW) while at the other end of the spectrum is a four-cylinder 1.2-liter TSI developing 110 HP (81 kW). On the diesel side, there’s a four-cylinder 1.4-liter with 75 HP (55 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW). Sometime in 2015, the 75 HP variant will be installed in a more economical GreenLine derivative which will also pack a start/stop system and kinetic energy recuperation.

The 2015 Skoda Fabia Combi will be introduced on October 2 during the first press day of the Paris Motor Show.
