Report 2015 Mercedes-Benz Nomenclature

Totally agree with you about the GL, it seems like a bigger version of the ML (aka GLE), they even share the same interior/dashboard but maybe in future I hope Mercedes will differentiate the GLE and GLS more from each other and then the GLS can be made more luxuries with unique interior and appointments as well as unique styling to make it a more credible rival to the Range Rover as well as upcoming Jaguar/Bentley rivals.

No doubt that will happen with the next model. Mostly because of the car you didn't mention, the X7.

Also, the 'd' for diesel now huh? How utterly cute. MB is smart to look at the leaders of the industry for inspiration, though. BMW must feel flattered with this and the GLE coupe :D

Yes actually I thought about the X7 after I posted it and thought I should have included it as a upcoming rival!!:ROFLMAO:

With regards to the "d" badge it would be quite funny in future if BMW take Mercedes to court for copying their badging and Mercedes will be forced to change it back to "CDI" or "D" like the older models!!:D

That would be quite funny indeed, but I think MB's legal department has taken a good hard look at this :D
Though BMW already made them change the M class to ML class in the past, so it is indeed possible.
