2013 Infiniti JX Crossover Spy Shots (targeting M-class/X5)

Cornering Kingpin

There's a new seven-seater in the works at Infiniti, and fortunately, it shares almost nothing in common with the up-to-eight-passenger QX56, at least in terms of its appearance. These spy shots offer the first good look at what to expect when the new JX makes its debut at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

So far what we know of the JX is that it will offer seven seats in a three-row arrangement, will be a crossover, and will offer a "stunning" interior. It will also be built in the U.S., at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee plant.

The JX, presumably, targets other luxury crossovers like the Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Mercedes-Benz M-Class, though in a (presumably) even more road-refined manner, as the current QX56's body-on-frame underpinnings satisfy the more rugged, truck-like niche. From what we can see beneath the bulky camouflage in these spy photos, the JX is proportioned more like the Mercedes-Benz (don't call it a minivan) R-Class.

Despite the mid-summer premiere, the JX won't go on sale until spring 2012 as a 2013 model. Accordingly, the official world debut won't take place until November, at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Press Release

INFINITI RELEASES FIRST IMAGE OF INFINITI JX CONCEPT

Automaker Provides the First Look at Upcoming Seven-Passenger Luxury Crossover and Launches "Power of 7" Campaign

Infiniti released an image of the Infiniti JX Concept today, giving the first official glimpse at a new luxury crossover that will join the Infiniti line next Spring. Reinforcing the vehicle's seven-passenger seating, the photo was launched at exactly 7:07 am.

Infiniti also announced the launch of the "Power of 7", an innovative social media campaign designed to initiate conversation about the JX Concept in advance of its global reveal at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 18.

The campaign includes a series of seven images that will be distributed exclusively on Facebook (Infiniti | Facebook) every Thursday over the next seven weeks. The Facebook page will include an opportunity to win a trip for two to join Infiniti at the vehicle's reveal at the Pebble Beach Concours.

"Families don't have many luxury vehicle options today. The new Infiniti JX will be the 7-passenger antidote to the ho-hum luxury crossovers that are out there right now," said Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti Americas.

Infiniti will officially debut the production version of the 2013 Infiniti JX, which goes on sale in the Spring of 2012, at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November.

2013 Infiniti JX Luxury Crossover Concept: New Teaser

We are thick in the between-show-season doldrums, but Infiniti just spiced up the summer once again with the third real shot of its new JX Concept following a teaser sketch revealed in April. Styled as a new seven-seat luxury crossover, the 2013 Infiniti JX is part of the "Power of 7" social media campaign.

The full reveal will come at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and MotorAuthority will be on hand to bring you all the details live from the Monterey Peninsula.

As yet, Infiniti hasn't released any other details on the vehicle, but it will be a 2013 model released in the spring of 2012, with a full production debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. It is also expected to be built in the U.S., the Infiniti to do so.

The "Power of 7" campaign will see seven new images released on Facebook each Thursday over the next seven weeks, leading up to the concept's Pebble debut.

For something that incorporates such dynamic and athletic styling.... that tone of green is very.....very...off.

That front-end should look very imposing! :)

Just looking at it makes me think of noisy children and smell of throw-up. Not a good thing.

IMO, the other Infinite SUV (whatever it's called) is preposterously hideous as well.

I agree, very strange how Infiniti does this much teaser "hype" on a car that ends up looking miserably ugly. :D

Hmm...Well just because you all believe it's "ugly" doesn't mean that everyone else will. The teaser photos and spy shots actually look pretty good IMO. It's actually no big suprise that it will take some of it's designs from the FX and QX.

Infiniti has some decent SUVs, considering offerings from MB/Audi aren't exactly sublime..

We're now six weeks through the seven-week teaser campaign for the new JX Concept, to be unveiled next week at Pebble Beach. The seven-week campaign matches the number of seats the new large crossover will hold.

A teaser sketch was revealed in April, and has been followed with five teasers so far. Styled as a new seven-seat luxury crossover, the 2013 Infiniti JX is part of the "Power of 7" social media campaign.

As yet, Infiniti hasn't released any other details on the vehicle, but it will be a 2013 model released in the spring of 2012, with a full production debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. It is also expected to be built in the U.S.

Just one more teaser is left before we get to the final unveiling, so hang in there. The end is near.

In the meantime, click here to view spy shots of a prototype of the new luxury crossover.
