Lately though, starting with Jetta V, VW has sought to distance the car more from the Golf's younger, sportier, compact image and closer to an Audi A4 by placing it a little more upscale as a family semi-executive sedan. The current model Jetta V was launched in Europe in 2005 and our spied successor is expected to launch in 2012.

Details are alike the Jetta Coupe concept, shame about the car having such a boring appearence. VW are truly the new Volvo.

Why does it look like an old Kia Magentis?

Oh god, someone needs to tell VW that beating Toyota doesn't require looking like them too. The current Jetta looked like a German Corolla when it came out for 2005, but it soon grew on most while looking better than the Toyota in every way.

This new one though...looks as dull as dishwater.

Hopefully the interior keeps the VW spirit/build/look.

Blandness perfected. The Toyota camo made me giggle. They have attempted to disguise the car as a Toyota Avensis.

Somebody should let VW know that beating Toyota doesn't require looking like Toyota! That is going to be the blandest VW yet in the U.S..
