The front end just ruins this car. I hope the SL doesn't suffer with a pig snout like this.

I think the front is bold,masculine and in your face..pretty much needed in that compact roadster "soft" segment.

I actually think it's the opposite. The rear end is blah while the front end has some character.

IMO the rear is just striking and the graphics of the lights are just great.

..so i like the whole car.

Here is what I don't understand. Why do you need an AMG engine? The TT V8 from the S550 produces over 400 hp, and significantly more torque. So why pay the additional $$ for the hand built AMG, when you can get a more reliable and more efficient and more powerful engine for less $$. Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees.

The SLK is a nice car. Particularly inside. But the guy who designed the front of this car needs to be taken out and beaten merilously.

Wait, so you're saying people should buy an S550 over an SLK 55 AMG? Really? Please tell me you're being sarcastic. The two cars are in no way similar. The S550 is a boat that you want to be driven in. The SLK 55 AMG is a somewhat sporty vert that can actually go around a corner and that YOU drive.

Maybe he meant that MB should have dropped the TT V8 from the 550 cars into the SLK AMG..still totally different characters engines and the NA V8 definitely suits the SLK personality much more.

Unfortuanly SLK AMG is not the best attempt from Mercedes from a driving point of view but I seem to be a minoity here who like the design

Ahh Ok. Thanks for clarifying. Even still, The Chassis and gearbox wouldn't be able to take all that torque and HP.

I don't think the SLK was trying to be a drivers car. Remember, these cars are driven by retired old men or businessmen who want to get to work comfortably and in style and maybe use the car as a back road warrior. It sure fulfills that need very nicely.

For a sales person you seem lost on what AMG is about. You buy an AMG to have a unique vehicle, engine included. The V8 in the SLK55 is naturally aspirated and it fits in with the character of the car much better than the 4.7L turbo V8 and it also less complexity with all the turbos and what not.

I am glad you liked it HOTICE. You are right. I just wish there were more videos around showing the new SLK 55 in action. Sounds even more aggressive than my "old" SLK55--but I can not wait to test drive it--- that sound alone might distract me from some of the design angles that I do not enjoy too much.
