2012 Automechanika - Frankfurt

While scrolling down some old pictures I found some I took last year on my business trip to Automechanika - Frankfurt. Negotiating better prices with the big bosses and getting business offers from more than 20 companies I still haven't worked with. Most successful work trip in my entire working life. Here are some pictures from the exhibition and in the end a short review of the work horse we used to get there and back home.

I'll start with a picture of the Hella bulb display panel my father introduced to the market years ago:

We did our 3000km. trip with the "help" of the Opel Insignia 1.7CDTi.
I'm not sure if it has electric steering but it surely gave me the worst impression ever from a modern car.
It felt like I was driving the car with a PS1 pad... it's TOTALLY inaccurate...
On the Autobahn you just make a slight, real smooth correction with the steering wheel and almost half a second later the car makes it move... far, far away from smooth... it's like it saw a pig crossing and it's trying to avoid the collision on it's own... it's even scary at higher speeds...
I was amazed at how bad the steering on this car was. I hear many people complain about Opel's steering lately but I never thought it's possible to be that BAD!
Another thing is the transmission - BAD!
It shifts really slow in automatic mode and I think even slower when manual shifting... it's never where you want it to be, when you want it to be...
The car looks great IMO. It simply feels cheaper than what it looks like... Everything!
The engine tho was good for normal cruising both in city and on the Autobahn.

Awesome post! I never imagined that trade shows which deal with car spares would have such fine machines on display.


Side note, anyone know what this is? Actually looks hot for a toyota hatch

Yes, and that's just a tiny bit of what it really was. Let's say like 1%, it's huge!

@Giannis - Yes it was at the tuning section.

@Cashmere - Many people don't know that at such exhibitions you might even see better cars than at some car-only shows
