Massa: I'm here to win

Felipe Massa insists he is going into the Hungarian Grand prix this weekend with his focus on victory, and has denied that he is the number two driver at Ferrari.
Massa missed out on what would have been an emotional victory on the first anniversary of his accident at the Hungaroring in last weekend’s German Grand Prix after Ferrari elected to swap its drivers round in the race.
While the team denied using team orders after Massa was handed a coded message over the radio by engineer Rob Smedley, race stewards thought otherwise and decided that the team had breached the rules on team orders and brought the sport into disrepute – handing out a $100,000 fine and referring the matter to the World Motor Sport Council.
The topic was understandably on the agenda when Massa appeared in the Thursday press conference ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend, with the Brazilian being quizzed as to whether he now saw himself as the number two within the Ferrari team after what happened a week ago.
“The time I say that I am a number two driver, I will not race any more,” he replied. “I will fight for the victory here whatever the conditions. I’m working for the team and we know how important that is.”
Massa was also quizzed as to whether he would act differently if he found himself in the same position this weekend, replying with a simple ‘I will win’ when pushed for an answer. Massa had insisted that it was his decision to allow Fernando Alonso
through to take victory at Hockenheim following the message he was given from the pits.

Yeah, that was a coded message alright. Coded in plain English.

I doubt Ferrari gets anything more for ruining the afternoon of millions and millions of Formula 1 viewers since they so eloquently coded the messages. If needed Ferrari will keep on dropping Massa behind Alonso but more subtly from now on.

I suppose this stuff stirrs the weekend up a bit. Still hate to see such racing :\

I fear Jenson and Lewis will be overtaken in the standings this weekend, but I don't hope so. With Ferrari back in the frame, upping the performance of the MP25 is mighty important or atleast at the next GP, on the 29th of August, be on the front or second row.

Kubica still confident in Renault


Robert Kubica has faith that Renault is still on its upward development curve - despite having lost ground to frontrunners Red Bull Racing and Ferrari in recent races.

The Pole played down talk before the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend that he could stage a repeat of his strong performance from Monaco - even though the track characteristics should have been well-suited to his Renault.

Kubica explained that his feelings were prompted by the fact that he thinks Renault is not at as high a performance level compared to the opposition as it was in Monaco back in May.

"Monaco was a long time ago," explained Kubica. "I think things are changing very quickly in F1. The best example was last weekend with Ferrari being very competitive, surprisingly competitive. So, as I say, things are changing very quickly in F1.

"I think we were in better timing in Monaco, we were in better shape compared to our competitors. It looks like now many teams catch up and they are more competitive. And also the Hungaroring is not exactly Monaco as a race track."

Kubica said he never expected Renault to have kept up its impressive early-season development pace – but he thinks for the long term the team still is on course to achieve its potential.

"It will be very difficult and nearly impossible to keep up such a rate of development I would say," he said. "And it is normal at teams that you have through the year up and downs. Sometimes you might discover more potential or more gain than you would be expecting.

"On some other occasions you might get less gain than you are expecting, but what is important is long term. I always say that even if you have new package or something, you have to wait three or four races to see how you are against your competitors.

"You might be in a different zone of development, but all in all I think that is why here it will be difficult to repeat Monaco, I would say nearly impossible, but this track will be better than Silverstone."

Kubica thinks Renault is also finally getting totally on top of its blown diffuser concept in Hungary – having recovered the loss of engine power that came from the repositioning of the exhausts.

"The team had spent quite a lot of time to develop it, and quite a lot of effort to make it work as best as we could so when we introduced it we felt quite ready for it," he said.

"We were quite confident that it could give us an advantage, but of course it is quite a complicated thing. If you introduce it during the season there might be some disadvantage, as we had.

"So in the beginning step-by-step we tried to eliminate as much as we can the disadvantage in order to make it work at 100 per cent. We have here a reasonable step of improvement, and one big disadvantage of the blowing floor which we had since Valencia is gone. I think it will give us a better performance than in recent races."

Renault is expected to introduce its F-duct for the next race in Belgium, which should give the team a boost in terms of straight-line speed.

Can't wait to see vettel pull a schumi move again squeezing the p2 driver into the barrier. He has been terrible off the line fumbling away chances of an easy cruise to victory. Still I think a res bull will won. Overtaking at the hungaroring is near impossible. Best chance to jump someone is off the line or through pit stops.

Schumacher gets 10-place grid penalty

Michael Schumacher will lose ten places on the starting grid for the Belgian Grand Prix after being penalised for his driving in Hungary.
The German and Williams driver Rubens Barrichello came very close to crashing after Schumacher pushed the Brazilian against the wall on the main straight as the Brazilian attempted to pass.
The move angered Barrichello, who slammed Schumacher's move as 'crazy' after the race.
Schumacher himself said he had done nothing wrong.
The FIA stewards penalised the seven-time champion as he had "illegitimately impeded car 9 during an overtaking manoeuvre."
The Mercedes driver will lose ten places on the grid in the next race in Belgium.

Schumacher had been doing these stuff for long, just that he was winning at Ferrari before and FIA never seem to penalise him for anything.
 
He still thinks that he's a king, but he's just history. Unfortunately he will do his old tricks but he’s not going to get away with that anymore. An old dirty player is going to be remember forever. :bangin:
 
I was rooting for Schumi's comeback, but now I think he should just hang up his gloves, looks pretty sad. Yes, he did the same shit before, but then, it looked like a cut throat champion, but now he just looks desperate. Oh and, I am fast becoming a Webber fan. Fantastic drive.
 
I anticipated Vettel to do a Schumi but the man himself, Michael Schumacher, was in character and squeeed Rubbens. The speed at which they was driving was nuts, if Rubbens would have touched the wall, the accident would have been frightening, on the level with Kubica in Australia 2008. Schumi's been terrible PR for MB GP and is so far the donkey of F1 2010. The team is nothing but a fiasco so far.

Vettel is looking less and less like a champion. He's had some many poles, but simply fails to make it stick. Consistency seem to be an issue for him, he doesn't come across as a calm and composed driver. Webber is alright but neither he's amazing on days when he's not on pole. This race marks a turning point. RBR have overtaken Mclaren int he standings and both the championships are now theirs to lose. I have to say that Newey is one hell of a car designer. Not only does Mclaren have to catch up making their EBD work but now they have to develop a questionable flexible front wing.

Spa is a car circuit and circuit is loooooooooooooooong meaning that Red Bull have an even bigger opportunity to dominate. By that race Mclaren and Ferrari must chose what driver they want to back if they fancy at least fighting for the drivers' world championship. From what I've seen so this season, my favorite drivers are Lewis, Kobayashi and Kubica.

Watching the (rerun) race right now.. the first pit stop was wild!!!! I can't believe that wheel didn't kill anyone?!?! :t-crazy2:
 
Senna did the same. Prost did it to Senna. Hamilton did it to Glock. Webber did it to Massa. Schumi did it to Webber. Alonso did it to Massa...etc etc.

It happens. MS has always been that sorta driver since the beginning. I don't think he'll ever change. While i admit it was a rather naughty move, it didn't deserve a penalty. And MS didn't break any rules, as far as i'm concerned.

Rubens was on fresher tyres, saw a gap and went for it. When he saw MS started closing the door, he had an option to fall back or go for it. He went for it and i applauded, but his whining was nothing new. He always complains. I will never forget what he did for Ferrari, but he's always complaining.

I don't see an issue of the penalty, if the FIA deemed it was a penalty. But i just wish they'll be more consistent with their penalties. Not let off Webber-Massa a few years ago at Fuji, let off Alonso-Massa and then punish MS for this.
 
On the side note, looks like Webber is looking for sponsorship from Gillette i think.. :D
