F1 2010 Chinese Grand Prix

I sould say that the biggest decption of this season is Schumacher, it would have been better for him to stay at home and with Ferrari, his team, that have gone to a new team and on this conditions (3 years without driving).

Talking about Ferrari, they are not at 100% on this season, and they must do something to correct this, Why do they told Massa and Alonso to stop on the very same lap? Is this a serious team decision?.

I find weird that Button is that ahead of Hamilton, as I think this season is the one who is doing his best, and actually the driver that provides me more entertaiment to see, he would deserve to be the leader of the championship right now. But somehow, Button has managged to fight Lewis and beat him on the qualifying and end races on better positions than him, wich says a lot about him.

Once we get to circuits where weather is dry and constant, there will be fewer opportunities for Button to make rewarding tyre choices.

Wohaa!! Now that's was a race woth waking up early for. 10/10!!!!1

One thing is for sure, elbows will be stiffer now when the prelude to the 2010 season is over. The stewards have work cut out for them because in this race there was plenty of grey area driving:

Alonso: Mashing past Massa in the pitlane entry.

Hamilton & Vettel: Fightining in the pit lane entry and pit lane exit.

Rosberg: Almost making a double move during an overtake attempt by Hamilton.

Button: Backing up the field in the hairpin.

When drivers' watch a re-run of the race, they will be raising their eyebrows. For the stewards the decision is whether to penalize or let the big dogs get at each other.

I think Button has silenced the critics. His previous victory wasn't luck. Button's ability to be confident in staying out on dry tires is an amazing asset. Today we saw exactly how rewarding it can be. Not only do you leap frog several drivers, but you win a battle without fighting! In the process you conserve your tires, avaoid getting into trouble with other drivers and avoid making grey area decisions that might make the stewards investigate you.

Yeah it looked like amateur hour.

The "you win a battle without fighting" is why Prost was dubbed Mister Boring and why people usually cheered for the likes of G. Villeneuve, Rosberg Snr., Mansell and Senna.

Seems that Hammy & Vettel were reprimanded (without penalty) for their pit lane follies.

Funny enough it was Vettel and Hammy who took the gamble this time by going into the pits early and just after a few laps discovering that the intermediates were terrible. But they had been warned. On Friday, Bridgestone said that China is very tough on tires. Here we can see that a handful of drivers decided to stay out on slick despite reports that rain was on the way.

that was a pretty good race due to the rain i suppose... but then the cars sound so boring now...

Just watched the race. Button's race craft impresses me. Both Alonso and Hamilton needs penalty for being dickheads in the pit lane.

What makes you think so? Under changeable circumstances, Button definitely beats Lewis in tyre management. It's pretty logical, under normal dry and constant weather, Button will continue his dominance.

I say he's a worthy champion. Not spectacular like MS or Senna, but more controlled like Prost. Hats of to him for an awesome win.

P/s : I agree with Sunny that both Hammi and Alonso deserve a penalty, Alonso in particular.

Hamilton's tyre shredding driving style has been exaggerated. Towards the end of the race Button's tires were as bad as Hamilton's. Button's easy driving style does have limitations which we saw a few races ago when he struggled to get temperature into his tires. It's pretty easy to manage your tires if you don't push them to the limiting during aggressive braking.

Regarding Hamilton and Alonso, their behaviour is the product of the new point system. Previously, in 2007, most races were parades. Regardless if it was Alonso, Massa, Kimi or Hamilton driving behind behind the leader, non of them bothered to attack the driver in front. They are comfortably cruised to the finish line because the points difference between the finishing positions were rather small. With higher differences between the podium places, overtaking does finally pay off. This is what we've been begging for, more exciting duals between the drivers.

Button wasn't actually quick...2 fewer stops and ended up a few seconds ahead. I don't see the hype about Button, "smooth" driving style is kind of a good way of putting little aggression, or even slow.. under normal conditions Hamilton will be way faster. look back some years, he was no where during those good Raikonnen/Montoya/Schumacher/Alonso days.. well, he's just another F1 driver who can win in a great car, but gets no where with a suboptimal car where you see some others, like those mentioned above, fought with whatever they've got and overshadowed their team mates.

That is cause of the safety car, when it came out a 2nd time. Button was way ahead, more than 45 secs or so of Hamilton (Kubica in 3rd place was 36 secs ahead of 4th place) before the safety car out and bunched them up.

I don't think Button is quicker than Hamilton, but it is not accurate to say that he only finished few secs ahead despite 2 fewer pit stops either. The gap would have been much bigger if not for the safety car. As an aside, underrated Button also out qualified "I am so good" Hammy 3/4 times this far.

The second safety car was complete B*, nobody mentioned this.

Yeah, it ruined Kubica's potential podium finish. I was quite surprised Charlie deployed the SC when the marshals could have removed the pieces under a double yellow flag. But hey, the pitlane was rather busy during the race, so I guess they wanted to clean away debris properly to avoid any puncture on driver's semi-bald tires.

Thing is, everyone said that Button made a mistake joining Mclaren, and that Lewis will wipe the floor with him.

Not the case so far.
