They just need better designers. They've gotten worse and worse over the years.
Bangle had some very controversial designs, but I LOVED every single one of them. They were a lot better than these "evolution era" designs of theirs.
Well designs are pretty much subjective. Of course this Avalon is far from the looks of the W221. Then again Honda and Toyota are designing their cars for their customers.Toyota needs quality control. Then they shall focus on their designs.
Right now if I were to say the best Japanese company design wise would be Nissan.

Really? With their just released Juke?
The exterior is actually (dare I say) handsome for the Avalon, but the interior does look low rent.
It's garbage, even when comparing to American cars, not Benz/BMW. Same price range as my chrysler 300 but much worse car.

I beg to differ!!! You think 300C (built on outdated Merc's chassis) is a better car than Avalon? Yeah, maybe if the Rwd is your only concern!
Avalon is a treat to drive, besides the torque-steer! And that issue is for youngsters like us cuz' Avalon is built of aged/senior ones, who never metal-the-pedal!![]()
I'm basing this purely on looks. My 300 is a bargain and looks pretty good too. Avalon is just plain ugly IMO.

Avalon buyers, buy it for being Toyota & to drive it daily with no worries for good long years. I didn't like the new Avalon but last one over 300C for me, any day!
Reliability should be among the basic factors to consider, when paying $30K+ for a daily-driver, instead of just pretty face! Avalon's value is unbeatable in it's segment.![]()
lol HOH, have you owned/driven one ? The car has problems putting power on the front wheels, torque steering all the time, the front wheels are worn in 10KM or so, the tires are squealing at 40Km/h or less in turns, wind whistles at high speed, the list goes on and on.
