Re: Spy Photos: 2010 Baby Rolls-Royce

As explained earlier in other threads ...

RR4 (baby RR) rolling around as an original-body prototype ... heavily camoed. The LWB 7er with wider track CAR magazine claims it's baby Rolls it's actually (as also explained in the other thread) a mule for Gran Turismo (new 8er).

So ... do not believe car magazines or spy photographers ... Scott & Eni are here for you ... bringing you true & fresh internal BMW info. BMW CreativeMarketing TM. :D;)

More about baby RR later by Scott ... :t-cheers:

It was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the pics too. Very nice move by BMW to put the next Rolls there in the middle :eusa_clap

Re: Spy Photos: 2010 Baby Rolls-Royce

The Rolls-Royce prototype has just started development on the streets of Munich so the pictures should not be as far coming. Munich is just the beginning for this car. Which it will be developed in significant world wide markets so you could see one in a street near you.

And what a great looking model - If the Phantom is the modern interpretation of Rolls-Royce then the New car is the Future interpretation of the Brand. everything is sleek and advanced with classic overtures of RR. Even the engine (Phantom remains V12) will be significant to Rolls-Royce with a advanced turbo V10 - advanced Turbo charging will be the next innovation for BMW turbo charged engines - Beginning with the new V12 for the 7er.

Drophead Coupe and Cabrio models are also destined for this platform as is The Ambitious plans for a sleek four door Coupe. That seem to be gathering speed it would be the BMW CS for the super premium luxury stratosphere.

Re: Spy Photos: 2010 Baby Rolls-Royce

Both V10-turbo and V12-turbo coming? Nice!

Re: Spy Photos: 2010 Baby Rolls-Royce

A pillars seems pretty much identical on both cars, do they share platforms ?

Re: Spy Photos: 2010 Baby Rolls-Royce

so basically we can expect the V12 to introduce sequential turbocharging and camless tech coupled with 14v, technologies that just like direct injection and the current V12 will trickle through the entire range before the end of the F01 lifecycle

as for the turbo V10 i am expecting detuned to aroun 7000rpm, or maybe less, and output of around 550hp

2008 Detroit Auto Show: Rolls-Royce Develops New Engine for RR4 Model Series

DETROIT — Rolls-Royce Chairman and Chief Executive Ian Robertson said on Monday that the company's new model series, code-named RR4, will get a "brand-new" engine. Details were sketchy about the new engine, but Robertson characterized it as "a further substantial advance.

"To date I haven't been able to tell you much about the RR4, but I can announce today that we are developing a brand-new engine for this model series," he said. "Phantom is already the most efficient car in the superluxury segment, and the new engine will be a further substantial advance."

He said the RR4 "is due for launch in 2010." Robertson elaborated: "The engineering development is now well underway — in fact, I recently drove an early test car and can confirm that it is an outstanding product and, as importantly, an authentic Rolls-Royce."

Robertson's speech included the update that the new member of the Phantom family, a series version of the two-door four-seat experimental coupe, the 101EX, will be in customers' hands in the summer. He noted that the reaction to the Phantom Drophead Coupe, which launched in July, has been "outstanding." He said the company had sold more than 250 Phantom Drophead Coupes by the end of 2007. "Our order book is currently full through this year and well into 2009, with no signs of demand slowing," Robertson added.

Rolls-Royce also achieved a significant milestone in 2007, selling 1,010 vehicles. "This is a significant point in the history of our company," Robertson said, noting that it's "the first time our annual sales have reached four figures, and our fourth successive sales increase since the company was launched."

What this means to you: Rolls-Royce continues on a healthy track, but it's getting increasingly difficult to get your hands on popular models. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

Great.

So this will be the turbocharged V10 Scott was talking about. It is obvious that this model will be targeting the 'sportier' Bentley owners -- more of a proper drivers car (than the Phantom) with an emphasis on performance.

Makes sense, yeah.

Re: 2008 Detroit Auto Show: Rolls-Royce Develops New Engine for RR4 Model Series

A turbo charged version of the current M5 V10???
I think that engine is waaay too sporty for any Rolls. I am thinking about a new V12 for the Rolls. The same new V12 that will be fitted in the F01 7er.

Or of course the new 4.4 V8 bi-turbo. That would work very well inside the Rolls too I think.

Re: 2008 Detroit Auto Show: Rolls-Royce Develops New Engine for RR4 Model Series

The new V10 will likely be the new V12 - 2 cylinders as a base. I too was thinking the M5's V10, but that engine is way too high-strung for a Rolls.

I don't think we'll ever see a TT V12 Phantom... Baby Rolls? That's another story since the car will be much sportier according to info we have...;)
