The Nissan Maxima is a five-passenger, front-engine, front-drive sedan that was manufactured and marketed by Nissan as Nissan's flagship sedan primarily in North America, the Middle East, South Korea, and China. The Maxima debuted for model year 1982 as the Datsun Maxima, replacing the Datsun 810.

Just yesterday Nissan was kind enough to release a few teaser images of the seventh generation Maxima, but now courtesy of the web that is all over the world and extremely wide, we have the first full resolution shots ahead of its planned unveiling at the New York Auto Show tomorrow.

Ever since the Maxima was first introduced in1976, each new model has had a short lifespan of around 4 years (give or take a year). So Considering the current model has been on the market since 2004, we can put to bed any previous rumours that the 2009 Maxima will be a major facelift, what you see here is the all new model.

Full details, more high resolution press shots and of course live shots of our own will be released tomorrow when the 4-door sports car is unveiled, be sure to come back and check them out.

Mmmmhh...
Could someone please tell Nissan that bio-design is outdated now and that these wings are past, too?

Re: 2009 Nissan Maxima Leaked!

It looks like Nissan tried to go after the new Mazda 6, but failed. The interior, especially the center stack is way to close to Infiniti. Its all sort of a big mess at least from these first pics.

I used to be a fan of Maximas... what the hell is this?

Re: 2009 Nissan Maxima Leaked!

The front grill area reminds me so much of the previous generation Q. They are stuck way back, and I don't think it's good for infiniti to be so obviously sharing their interior components with Nissan.

Re: 2009 Nissan Maxima Leaked!

There is a bit of Toyota feel to the way the the front and rear quarter panel meets the lights. The shape of the lights very strange, they look like the more angular version of the lights which appeared in the spy photos of the Nissan 370z.

Re: 2009 Nissan Maxima Leaked!

I'm speechless... While I could stand the rear end, the front lights are absolutely terrible. I don't like the design of the area around the fog lights either.

Re: 2009 Nissan Maxima Leaked!

OUCH! The current one is one of my favorite non German auto but this looks like the bastard child of a Kia r_ping an Infiniti (pardon my use of the r word)

The front lights are weird.:eusa_thin

The rear also seems to have been influenced from BMW 7 series.

The interior seems to have top notch quality for the class though.
