GT-R Tokyo 2009: Godzilla Refined - Nissan shows revised GT-R

The Nissan GT-R (Gran Turismo–Racing; model code: R35) is a series of cars built by Nissan from 2007 to 2025. It has a 2+2 seating layout and is considered both a sports car and a grand tourer. The engine is front-mid mounted and drives all four wheels. It succeeds the Nissan Skyline GT-R, a high-performance variant of the Nissan Skyline. The car is built on the PM platform, derived from the FM platform used in the Skyline and Nissan Z models. Production is conducted in a shared production line at Nissan's Tochigi plant in Japan.

Nissan Releases New-Spec Nissan GT-R

YOKOHAMA (Oct. 21, 2009) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced the release of the latest version of the Nissan GT-R, which goes on sale on December 7th at Nissan dealers nationwide in Japan. The updated GT-R receives a number of enhancements, including a revised navigation system, recalibrated suspension settings and an improved-flow catalyst system. It is scheduled to go on sale in other global markets beginning next spring.

Since its introduction in the Japanese market in December 2007, the Nissan GT-R has gone through continuous evolution, remaining on the cutting-edge of multi-dimensional performance. The GT-R has also been acclaimed globally, winning more than 50 top awards in various categories since launch. Nissan also supports GT-R owners with exceptional after-sales service.

The latest revisions to GT-R include a new HDD-based CARWINGS navigation system with enhanced entertainment functions. A USB port with iPod®*1 connectivity allows the driver and passengers to enjoy their favorite music in the car, creating an even more pleasant interior environment. *2

In addition, the GT-R's suspension has been retuned to offer enhanced, premium quality ride comfort, while still providing the driver with a feeling of direct contact with the road surface. The accuracy of the front shock absorbers and springs has been increased and the stiffness of rear suspension radius rod bushings has been strengthened. Rear diffusers with cooling ducts, previously available only on the GT-R SpecV, have been expanded to non-SpecV models, improving cooling performance around the rear floor area.

The exclusive Nissan GT-R SpecV models receive revised rear shock absorber settings, enhancing the characteristic combination of supple ride comfort and flat, predictable handling. In conjunction with this change, SpecV now comes standard with Dunlop tires. The previously standard Bridgestone tires are available as a factory-installed option.

Finally, both the Nissan GT-R and GT-R SpecV achieve improved low- and mid-range engine response, thanks to newly adopted hexagonal meshed catalyst cells that reduce ventilation/airflow resistance.

Sheeesh... what'll they think of next! I bet the guys in Formula 1 are taking down notes when it comes to the Nissan GT-R.

I like that little piece of fake chrome lining on the front grille..really gives the car a whole new level of class and prestige!

...Just kidding of course. This thing still looks great!!

I love the fact that the engineers aren't sitting still and waiting to respond to Porsche. They are bringing it right along Porsche.

Today was the first time I heard the car in person...that's deep burble. I was getting a cup of coffee after work (one of those days) and saw a white GTR with black wheels (BTW, nice combo) as I approached, the driver started the engine. Very nice.

Between this and all the other performance cars out there, it's good to be an enthusiast right now.

Agree, although I have not seen the GTR IRL. Price point considered, nothing comes close. Kudos to Nissan, too bad Toyota chose the ultra-expensive route. I can't imagine that their strategy has legs, no way in hell I would pay more for a Lexus than a Ferrari or Lambo if I were in that market.

Nissan chose the much better path IMHO. The looks are polarizing but the performance is off the charts.

And they are continuing to enhance an already great car....bravo Nissan.:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Excellent, more reasons why one should buy the improved versions of the GT-R, GT3 and Turbo for that money instead of the LF-A! :usa7uh:

As I said, in the LFA tread, I love the LFA since it's a showcase of TMC engineering prowess of what their capable of. The LFA is an irrational option, but that's the thing, Lexus is in dire need of something that's irrational...an embodiment that's pure, unfiltered passion. All there other products, including the IS-F are so compromised and buttibned-down. The LFA is not supposed to make sense right now, but hopefully, their future products will illuminate what Lexus and the LFA are going to be about, and for their sake, it will include performance and passion as well as areas they excel at...quality, reliability, craftmanship.
But, yes, for that cost I'd get a GTR for Monday through Friday driving and a 458 Italia for those weekend jaunts up the coast. A GT3 or McLaren MP4-12C would be nice for those track days too.

Ah, dreams....they are just that, dreams...I really need to get back to school.

PS: I just realized as I scrolled to see pics of the GTR, that's exactly what it looked like in the parking lot today!
