Deutsch: Exactly my feeling. MB's latest designs are not that exciting/surprising. They became sooo predictable. Ohh i can't wait for this generation to be phased out.

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

I don't know, but I'm not too incredibly excited about the W212, hopefully the more we see of prototypes will change my lack of enthusiasm.

Could it be how high the new S and CL-Class has raised the bar you figure it's time for a let down?:)

Going through our inbox this early afternoon I ran across an email from our good friend Shiv, one which directed to some new spy photos of the 2009 Mercedes E-Class captured by the fine gents over at AutoSpies.

Although the next E is heavily disguised, one of the most obvious additions is undoubtedly the grille reminiscent of the one found on the new C-Class. As for the rest of the vehicle, masking makes its difficult to see anything for certain, but I wouldn't be surprised if other styling elements found on the C-Class made their way to the new E as well.

To see more photos and form your own conclusions as to the direction the new E-Class is heading, head over to AutoSpies where you can find the 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class spy photo gallery in its entirety.

And to Shiv: thanks for the tip my good sir; we sincerely appreciate it.

Re: Spy Shots Of The 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My eyes might be folling me at the moment but it seems, (from all the latest spy shots) that the new W212 E-Class has traded the coupe-like silhouette (arching profile) for more rear headroom. The rear doors also seem to be extended, this car will no doubt be larger than the currant E all around.

Re: Spy Shots Of The 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I think I can see some C-Class design influences. Probably means that the next E-Class might have some boxy design cues. Should be interesting and a sort of "light homage" to the W124. :usa7uh:

Re: Spy Shots Of The 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I think this is probably a good move on thier part since this will now differentiate the CLS and the E even more with the E being more focused on rear comfort while the CLS retaining its coupe-ish line.

Re: Spy Shots Of The 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Christian, I think that's a design cue we see on a lot of cars because of EU pedestrain regulations. The hood has to be this high to keep a certain distance between the hood and the engine block, making this design desireable.

Anyways, looks like the design of the E is set in stone and final testing has begun with heavy cladding. Exiting!!!

Edit;

I love that BMW kidney grille too, LOL. Nice touch!

You have a good point klier, yes the hood design is set to be higher for safty reasons but I believe Christian was pointing out the unique cut-line that runs
into the fender, this is new to MB, as he pointed out the E is looking like it will follow suit to the new C.

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

Never seen those pics before, nice ones to see it in motion.

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

You can really see that it is an E-class. It has the same proportions as the current one.

Re: Spy Shots Of The 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Is it me or this car seems to be huge for E class?
Look at this photo, it's obviously bigger than current E class.

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

Estimated prices:
- Prices should start around the £33,000 mark for the entry-level E250, rising to an anticipated £75,000 for the hotshoe E63 AMG.

New technology:
- lane departure warning
- eye movement monitor
- traffic sign identification
- road condition sensors and a third-generation ESP stability which incorporates semi-active steering to compensate for crosswinds, camber changes and, believe it or not, uneven tyre wear.

Interior:
- Expect the E’s bank vault cabin to borrow heavily from the bigger S-class. That means an integral high-mounted colour screen alongside the backlit instrument panel.

Exterior:
- Expect the flared wheelarches of the S-class to feature, albeit more subtly, as well as Maybach-inspired bootlid treatment.

Mechanicals:
- The hot AMG 63 flagship will feature composite brake discs, which will trickle down into the less powerful models.
- Lighter 4-Matic system, which will feature dynamic torque adjustment to reduce mechanical friction and steering intrusion.
- All petrol engines will be direct injection to benefit economy and emissions, all diesel powerplants will feature ultra-clean Bluetec technology.
- Mercedes is also considering killing off all four-cylinder engines.

Re: New 2009 E-Class (Spy Pics & Details).

Thanks for the post bum-man. By this time though I would expect the E63 to get the much rumered M157 Bi-Turbo 6.0liter V8 to boot the competition in the power war.
