Re: 08/09 E-Class?

I just know that the new E-Class will be one sick car both in quality, performence and safety.
On thing is that todays E-Class i old but still we dont se any testcars running for the new E-Class, no spy-photos at all.

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

Most photoshops seem to be indicating edgier quad front lights, so I guess that's what we should expect for the next E. Any pictures of the back end?

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

Welcome to the forums, CYSPEED. :t-cheers:

This photoshop is pretty old I'm afraid to tell you. The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport brought this 'chop out almost a year ago. :usa7uh:

Cool first post though. You'll love it here at GCF. :t-cheers:

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

Firs of all welcome.. :D
Like wimmer said the chopp is old..but its so hot imo..i would love the next E to be like that:D

The only problem is that it would look very Lexus GSish and that's not a good thing because the public will think Mercedes is copying Lexus design.

Lexus designs are nothing special as of now, though I'll admit the new GS and LS are an improvement. I'm not crazy about the new IS, which IMO "tries to hard" to look sporty.

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

I agree cawimmer, however you must consider that luxury car designers
are now fighting each other with even more radicle yet sportier "aggressive" designs than their previous generations And thay will take the necessary steps to improve these designs. You and I might think the next E-Class (if it looks like this) is Lexus-like in design but MB would tell you that this is an evolution of the currant design.

I don`t believe the E will be as edgy as the above photo suggests. It will be more toned down like Hucks impression suggest.

And I agree with you, but I still feel that a too close resemblance to a Lexus model will be a bad thing. People might get the impression that Mercedes isn't a design-leader anymore and that should never happen. ;)

I also agree with your statement I highlighted in red. :t-cheers:

Thanks!!

Yet another good point. Mercedes must believe in their design and innovatative leadership. The Mercedes-Benz image is something that should be guarded with the utmost respect by the new designers.
The Mercedes design "DNA" is something that should never change.

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

New to the forum.
With the new MOVE program scheduled for MY 2010 and ongoing discussion regarding V60 or V90 engine layout I’m very skeptical that it could be any new E-class in MY 2009.

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

Welcome CYSPEED and iliya_ca.:t-cheers:

I hope the new E class won't look like that. It reminds me of Lexus GS.:eusa_doh:

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

I actually like the look of the 1st photo in this thread, I don't think it looks like a Lexus, the new LS460 actually stole quite a few of the design elements from the BMW 5 series but they don't quite work, I parked next to a new Lexus that was parked next to a new BMW 5 series in a garage in San Francisco and could not help but laugh at their poor attempt of copying. :eusa_doh:

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

You and I might think the next E-Class (if it looks like this) is Lexus-like in design but MB would tell you that this is an evolution of the currant design.

Who would they be fooling with that statement?

The new S-class has no evolution in headlight (or tail light) design. The CL has no evolution in head/tail light design either.. and from spy pics we can see that the C-class will not have the peanut shape front lights.

It's more a following of the Lexus GS design than it is an 'evolution' of the E-class lights.

Mercedes must believe in their design and innovatative leadership

I'm afraid that nowadays Mercedes no longer is the leader in innovative designs. Yes they still are in terms of technology and safety, .. but definately not design leadership. ... IMO.

Re: New Eclass 2009 Spy Photo

I thought for sure we'd see some actual prototypes after reading the title of this thread... I was fooled. Welcome.:t-cheers:

Mercedes was never really a design leader to begin with. Every car they made, the next generation was either a clear evolution of the predecessor and rarely, a completely different car.

And in my unbiased opinion, Mercedes design is still innovative. The CLS, R171 SLK and the new S-Class and CL-Class are pretty radical for MB design standards.
