F1 2009 Brazilian GP

To hell with what people say. It's better for Jenson winning the WDC with more than 5 wins, wayy better than Keke's 1 win WDC year.

Button's smooth, he's aggressive when he needs to, and played it well. To be fair, the Brawns were having difficult time warming up the tyres on certain circuits, it wasn't Jense's fault. Plus, it wasn't like Rubens blew him away in the 2nd half of the season.

To me, Button makes a great champion. He's cool, and pretty much a worthy champion.

Worthy in what way? When his car did well, he did well. When his competitor's cars improved, his results and wins slipped.

Contrary to Hamilton this season, Button's success was inextricably linked to how well his car was performing that day.

Button won the season, no doubt, but winning by virtue of everyone else losing isn't quite as spectacular as it seems.

Certainly not an unworthy champ, ok he's not schumi or a clarck, but Hamilton, Raikkonen and Alonso haven't done anything sensibly better than him.

What they have done though is won under immense pressure from rivals. Button barely had a competitor this year except for Barchello who was still no match for him. Sure there was Sebastian Vettel, but his efforts in beating Button were hampered by engine failures and one or two strategical errors by Christian Horner. Most importantly Button piloted an exceptionally superior car that enabled him to dominate the first half of the season without trying.

Kimi won while fighting Hamilton, Alonso and Massa. Hamilton and Alonso have both two very hard earned championships under their belts. This is the ground for some sceptics who might argue that Button is an unworthy champion. But in the end a championship is a championship.

Yes i agree that the other guys had more competition, i was referring to the obligatory phase where you have to manage your lead after having build a great advance.

Thats life in F1 these days, my friend. With testing banned, there's only so much a driver can contribute these days. Well, u mentioned Hamilton. Perhaps u forgot numerous times he was complaining to the team about lack of grip on the radio. Perhaps u forgot how he just wanted to park the car after an incident at the Nurburgring, Mercedes home race.

As far as i'm concerned, Button had his fair share of bad luck throughout his career. Hamilton's taste of bad car is only this season. When was the last Button had a competitive car? IIRC, it was 2004, but no where near to challenge Ferrari that year.

Button could have easily packed up and headed to STR, or RedBull, they were pursuing him as well. But he kept his head down, worked hard, and took a massive pay cut, and started the 2009 season with a budget team. His wins weren't fluke, perhaps just Malaysia, but overall, he did well. Again, when was the last you saw a season where the driver won titles in a crappy car? I think 2003 was the last.

I agree. But you sound like your saying that MS's titles were useless, compared to Alonso or Kimi's because he had no fight. Well, that's how F1 was, is and will be. The only difference this season was the fight didn't go down to the wire, unlike the previous seasons. I quote Vin Diesel : Winning's winning, whether you win by and inch or a mile. I agree with him.

Button did well early in the season, when many fumbled. But when they recovered, it was already too late. Plus, I don't recall Button messing up a strategy or making a mistake throughout this season.

What do you guys think about the Sutil - Trulli crash? Personally I watched it again for a few times and, well I don't really see what's wrong with Sutil. Trulli was on the outside so he might say that corner is so fast that Sutil shouldn't push him out, but if he knew he would be on the kerbs, why didn't he just back off? He only lost control at the end of the kerb, obviously thinking that he could stay side by side with Sutil after the kerb, but I mean he could've tried but if he knew the kerbs were so dangerous, he would've backed off, so obviously he didn't know. And i see that Trulli kind of intentionally ran so wide. Again if he knew it would be so dangerous, he would be running as inside as possible, as close to Sutil as possible, he didn't "need" to go that wide. That's my view for now.

Trulli acted as a real *******, yeah it was dangerous, but that was a racing incident as Adrian lost the control of the goddamn car.

It was Jarno's fault 100%. He was on the outside, has 2 wheels on the grass, lost it, and smashed into Sutil. It's amazing how Sutil was so cool about Jarno ranting and whining to him.

Yea, read some F1 sites that Trulli still furious about it and Alonso apparently agreed.. :s

Trulli is a troll. His overtake attempt on Sutil was a bit too ambitious. You can't try to go on the outside in a corner when the opponent is on the racing line, and simply expect him to move over for you.

Haha...Alonso was an innocent guy in all this. Anyways, what do u guys think of the new Toyota driver, Koby? I'd say, he impressed me like hell.

Suicidal and a bit dirty on the track. He has got speed, but one race isn't enough to determine how good he is. Remember when Nakajima made his debut race in Brazil 2007, he set a faster lap time than Nico Rosberg, but ever since then he is generally slower than Nico.

Nakajima has never impressed him. His pace during pace have at times been astonishing but he has always fail to demonstrate that speed in qualifications. Most importantly his performance on the track has been inconsistent with frequent DNFs and lack of talent.

Kobayashi on the other hand put on a display of confidence and driving ability that we haven't seen from most rookies. The fact that he finished the race while defending his position very well against experienced drivers makes him the rookie of the year -- this when he has enjoyed hardly any testing except for a practice session at Suzuka. I'm adamant that he'll get a seat next year and has the potential to do well.

Yes, i generally agree. Koby should have gotten a penalty, for that crash. However, i'm willing to cut him some slack for a first timer, plus, he had some great defending moves, as well as overtaking move.

I;m surprised Webber did not get a penalty for ending Kimi's chances. Webber seems to always get away with this things.
