A neighbour of mine also had a 2002 E270 CDI and it was in the shop all the time. He traded it in for a Lexus RX and a few years later the new RX400h. The car broke down this winter in a forest miles from where he lives.

He got punished alright.

although initial quality is important, the long term quality is much more substantle in my oppinion.

That is very true. The three year test is the real deal.
