I could have gone with 100 km/h-0, but I didn't for a number reasons, firstly being the there are far to many vehicles to list and, secondly braking from 200 km/h on a track like the Nürburgring is very important as it's a figure almost always acheived. The following figures below are from two magazines, Auto Motor und Sport and Sport Auto.

Enjoy!

Well in ceramic brake's defense....how cold was it when the car was tested...and did the brakes get hot enough to actually work. Remember that ceramic brakes work good when they get hot and are in the right temp range...thats why it's stupid to have them on normal streets.

Good point... it would make sense.

Thanks for that Zonda FSR! Wow that Zonda F can really stop fast and so does the M6. Any idea where the E60 M5 falls on this list?

I understand your point on every aspect, but i will say than when these vehicles were tested they were tested when the brakes were heated up. However on weather conditions can be to blame too, possible cold temps and/or tyre temps can change the numbers.

Tire compounds are the most important aspect of braking performance. More important than ceramic vs steel, pad compund and rotor diameter/thickness/construction. Most cars are supplied with a compromise tire. Some manufacturers put competetion tires on their cars for magazine road tests, esp the Italian exotics. The magazines don't tell you that. I'm suprised the GT3 cup wasn't more in the lead because of its slick Michelin race tires. That tells you how good the cars near it do on street of possibly R1 tires (tires like the Michelin PS cup, P-zero corsa, etc).

Yeah, agreed. Luckily Sport Auto tells you if different tyres have been used. The F430, Gallardo, V8 Vantage, RS4 and M6 were all using P-Zero Corsa's while the 997 GT3 was running on Michelin Pilot Sport Cups and the CLK DTM on Dunlop SuperSport. All of these tyres are optional, but road legal, so as you said it's amazing that cars like these can brake these figures. Some of the more amazing times, done by the Carrera GT and Zonda F were done using the regular Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres, which are standard and the only option available on both vehicles, now that is amazing. :eusa_clap

Really???? ;)

Btw, i'm really curious why the M5 did so bad? :t-hands:

:t-cheers:

Yeah, it is a little strange. The M5 was tested in warm weather too, about the same weather as the M6. The best i can say is that M5 didn't not have the M6's P-Zero tyres.

SLR has ceramic brakes but not the CLK-DTM? how come, isnt CLK-DTM suppose to be the better trackcar than SLR?

Does anyone has the 200-0 figures of some normal cars just to compare?

PS. I think AMS always in its 0-100, 0-150, etc had the figures of a normal ford focus just to compair to down-to-earth cars..

I wish i could answer that

However in all purposes it is true, the CLK DTM is a better track car than the SLR, it's a shame it lacks ceramic brakes.

Finding the 200 km/h-0 times are quite hard, the most down to earth car on that list is probably the Alfa Romeo 156 GTA with 161.3 metres

hmm, and is it considered as a good or a bad one?

I wish i could now the figures of my car...

Any possibility of getting numbers for the Quattroporte?
